I'll answer that with another question...

Why is it so hard for people to accept one's imperfection as perfection?

Oh look, it's one of those deliberately paradoxical questions that's meant to seem deep but makes no rational sense.

Oh, boy. We sure got stumped with that edgy, rhetorical question. I can't begin to fathom why someone wouldn't accept a flaw as a not-flaw, even in the context of snowflake syndrome where every rapist and murderer is a beautiful creature worthy of oxygen consumption.

@Lulu: @Brute's just overreacting. He knows good and well I'm neither a rapist nor a murderer. I dunno where that even came from myself.

Well, technically I don't know that, thought I suspect it's highly unlikely. Again, you seem incapable of separating a critique of an argument from a critique of the person making it (now I'm critiquing you as a person, but my first post was not). I'm going to break down some common sense, which I know is your least favorite subject, but try to bear with me.

Your argument, written in the way that it was, suggests that it's either problematic to not accept people's flaws as various components that come together to make a "perfect" creature, or that the reason for doing so is not plainly evident. The example provided merely illustrates in (what should be) obvious fashion why that doesn't work. When you have people whose flaws are so problematic (ex: rape, murder)

that they cannot be embraced by a functioning society, it then becomes pretty obvious that "one's imperfections" should not be accepted as "perfection" in a broad sense.

There are more nuanced cases, of course, where a perceived "imperfection" is not such an egregious and nonnegotiable "flaw," but none of that was suggested by your rhetorical question. All that was proposed was the broad principle, and it's a stupid principle.

On any other occasion, @Brute, I would've dismissed your walls of text by now after insulting me as you did. But since I'm in a calmer mood than usual, I'll forgive that little jab of yours implying that I don't have common sense and let this correction sink in. (cont.)

I will say this though... When I was referring to imperfections, I had less extreme character flaws in mind, and I was hoping everyone else would be on the same page with that.

@Awesmic Where did Brute call you a rapist/murderer?
By the way, why would you look at your imperfections as perfections? That’s like making an excuse for being a dick. Nobody is perfect and everybody should accept their imperfections, they shouldn’t see their imperfections as perfections.

@King Anubis: It's not about him calling me that directly. It's the fact he took the topic to that extreme and remotely implied it that disturbed me. When I joined this discussion, such thoughts never once crossed my mind, ever.

@King Anubis: To answer the second part, the imperfections I was going for were trivial at best... having a goofy sense of humor, not having the best fashion sense, not always knowing how to talk to your date, cutting diets, etc.

In other words, I believe these harmless imperfections are what make us perfectly unique and relatable to other people, as opposed to trying so hard to be those we perceive as perfect, but are just as human.

-No, I didn't.

@Brute: Whatever, man. But the idea that you even have to even had to take things that far when I jumped in the discussion speaks volumes, and that hurts. For one who's so sanctimonious when it comes to common sense, I would think that would be the furthest thing from your mind.
