Can't wait for Tekken 8. I could only hope that they will bring the game back to its roots.
But when that game comes out, I'm already old. I'll be carrying grocery bags every week, I'm gonna look like Gandalf with the white beard, and I'm gonna have high cholesterol because I'll be eating potato chips at the office.
Hey, I'm joking, but I'm gonna get old and my cheeks will crumple dumple.
Tekken 7 is a strong game, the problem is they have no idea how to market it post release I mean they literally couldn't do a worse job promoting the dlc not to mention Arcade has stuff exclusive to it which console will probably never see.
Then there's the lack of content... story episodes that are only 1 fight, arcade mode that's only 5 stages and only 2 bosses which instead of fighting both it chooses depending if you use rage arts or not??
I still feel Tekken 7 could have been great and I wanted it to be, I don't like 6 or Tag 2 at all.
I used to be supportive towards Tekken 7 back in the last few months before its release. I got blinded by its positivity just because it’s new that I didn't feel what's wrong with that game. Even though I already found its graphics unappealing, I still liked it. It was only when I started playing that I realized there was something wrong with the game, game play wise. It took out what made Tekken as Tekken.
And then like a few weeks later, that's when I realized that I didn't like Tekken 7, so I stopped playing it. The only thing I did in the next few months before I defected was teaching some new players how to play the game.
And there came a rift between the people who liked the game and are excessively defensive about it and the people who didn't, usually the old players.
As much as I hate to say it I doubt that a "Tekken 8" or a sequel to the series would "return the series to its roots" or would be significantly different to Tekken 7. This is unfortunately the direction that the series is moving in (along with a lot of fighting franchises in general).
-How they added 2D fighter elements to the game like Rage Arts and semi-invincible moves (Power crushes). Tekken lost its uniqueness when they put those into the game, and I find Rage Arts unappealing too.
-Generic throws are now useless because they can just be escaped by either 1 or 2.
-Sidestep and backdash is weaker. Some moves I used to be able to evade in are no longer possible.
-Graphics are...unappealing.
-Okizeme is now dumbed down. They made getting up less risky and less mind game heavy than it used to be.
Honestly, I don't hate Tekken 7. I'm just not happy with it. If there were any good things I can mention about the game, I could say I like the slow motion feature when both characters attack at the same time when they're low on health, and I find Rage Drives cool, even though it's also a 2D fighter element.
I personally think T7 is great, the addition of power crushes allows the player to escape pressure at the cost of health and I love rage arts too, it adds a more serious, darker element to the game, especially when you win a match with one. Rage drives and Rage arts also aren't 2D elements, any game can have them honestly.
Also Okizeme is virtually the same as its always been, they just removed the back roll(Thank god, it wasn't realistic at all) and tacked it on to the toe kick and replaced it with a more realistic way someone would get up. Tekken 7 overall tightened up the system and removed any unnecessary bulk to fine tune it which I like, T7 lacks in content but the game play is very solid.
Nah, I don't think so. You could no longer pick up someone when they try to get up after a floor spike, not just the back roll, so...it's not the same.
My biggest disappointment with Tekken 7 is the nerfed movement and generic throws are useless. I'd rather have them removed or be replaced with something else. Tekken 7 is more catered to the casuals than the ones who loved the game's technicality.
But I also wanna play Lili in later installments.
