For start, you can use sticks, pads etc. The 3DS D-pad (or any portables in general) just isn't meant for fighting games and DOAD just happened to be in there. (Unfortunately).
Resolution changes, speed fps limiter, etc etc etc. and Citra is getting updated every single day (literally).
