PS4/XB1 is still 4 and a half years old, there's no way it's ending. TBH, I think the PS4/XB1 gen needs to last way longer than its predecessors. It has superior overall technology. PS5/XB2 should be around 2023.
I think people are overthinking this comment. The "final stage" probably means the last two or three years when hardware sales aren't so good (though you wouldn't guess that after seeing the insane April PS4 numbers).
