As for player usage, there are players who are not comfortable with specific match ups despite Ayane having answers for them.

Ex: I loathe Gen Fu, but the characters I use has answers for him via his shitty range and poor highs, but his quirk of vortexs makes people second guess themselves.

Most suggested top 5 even from the competitive FB group I hear is Gen Fu, Leifang, Akira, Ayane, Christie.

Ayane is not a easy character to play with, it really comes down to the player on who they play against.

I know Ayane players that despise Tina and Rachel but Ayane does have answers if not, "many" answers for those two.

With reference to how the Tekken community goes about their tier lists, I suspect that it revolves around Ayane not being "braindead" enough for consistent tournament usage. I.e., you can fuck up with her easily, and she can get punished pretty hard for any mistakes or missteps. The other "top tiers" are pretty forgiving and somewhat braindead in comparison.

I'm aware of the execution of characters like Akira also. Because of how easily Ayane can get punished for mistakes, it can be difficult to see her as a genuine top 3 character in a game with so many more favourable choices for tournaments.
