Yeah, the game play is hella fun. I love the pace of the game. I just find the art style kinda odd like those locust dudes, but I guess that's one of the unique stuff of the game. COG vs Locust
I started with Gears of War 3 because I heard it's everyone's favorite. I might get my own copy later this year, but for now I'm borrowing someone's copy. I'm looking forward to Gears of War 5 and hopefully it's better.
Gears 3 is arguably the golden child of the franchise. Movement felt extremely fluid, dedicated servers for the first time meant no host advantage, a large amount of characters and pretty good weapon balancing. The only real issues were characters with broken hitboxes (females, Kantus variants, etc.)
Gears 4 isn't as big in the content department (quality wise, anyways), especially with nearly anything involving customization being behind loot boxes (which Gears implemented badly). On top of that, the existence of two separate weapon tunings splits the community, with one tuning leaning more towards Gears 3 while the other leaning more towards Gears 1/2.
