Pride comes before a fall though. I don't like that Itagaki just can't drop the hate, but I understand where it comes from. It sucks because he's made my favorite games and without him there wouldn't be DOA at all.
What destroyed DOA 4 was Itagaki arbitrarily deciding two months before release that he didn't like how the game played after watching a video of 3.1 combos, so the teams answer was to strip literally every non-launch guaranteed damage setup along with almost all frame advantage on block out of the game.
NG2 wasn't really ruined, persay, but it was rushed to meet internal deadlines to get those unpaid bonuses. What it would have been if such deadlines didn't exist, who knows. Probably not Sigma 2, because Hayashi definitely had different priorities than Itagaki.
Okay I agree. And Brute, Rikuto you are both right -- NG2 was a very good game; you could just see where it was rushed in spots. It's not hard for me to pick a side... Team NINJA now is pushing DOA to a bigger audience better than Itagaki ever did, but this man was my hero and made games I really cared about as a kid and I can never forget that man that cared about the way I enjoyed my hobby.
NG2 had very questionable boss designs however. And no, I am not talking about their AI. Gigadeath, Water Dragon, Nuclear Armadillo, Pterodactyls, etc. There is a reason why the Giant Death Worm got cut out in Sigma 2.
Well, sure. Every boss in NG2 sucks to play and the unlocks/structural features were nearly non-existent. But the gameplay is still the slickest and most stylish action of any game ever made. Period. No other game even gets close.
"Doesn't change reality"? LOL! Hyperbolic gibberish. NG2 is dated and not even in the top 10 gameplay-wise. God of War shits on it. But keep that Itagaki circle-jerk up if it makes you happy. It's entertaining at the very least.
