Season passes in fighting games are a bad move in general. I was mad when they lied about the "free legacy characters" in Tekken7, now 5$ per character or as a season pass, and now people have to pay in SC too just to be able to play their mains. At least in DoA you only got costumes, so I saw them as a way to support the devs or for appretiation without having to rely on them to get my fav. characters.
Characters in DOA5 were still paid for tho, especially in core fighters, and Season passes in DOA5LR were overpriced and you were charged extra for collab and guest related stuff xD
I never bought any characters, never cared for guest characters and it was good that only those were paid, unlike that tekken trash lol, so I never found them scammy
Oh, the hypocrisy of the morons saying that they'll buy SCVI over DOA6 thinking that it'll be a better title just encountered a plot twist =P. With that being said, Tira being Day 1 DLC is fucking stupid before the game & roster has been fully revealed.
DOA5's DLC characters were never made and finished before release, plus each big update added a lot of characters when they could have been DLC (Rachel, Momiji, Ein, etc)
With SC6, we have a legacy character (with many fans) who is probably in a finished state much like any of the other base game characters, and yet she is sold as DLC so you buy the season pass and pay for content that could've been in the base game.
If it was Amy instead of Tira rn, would you feel upset they're making you pay for a character who could've been in the base game (and thus not pay), or would you spend money regardless?
I wouldn't mind tbh, if this was 2 years ago when I didn't have a job or any source of income to buy DLC I would be fustrated, in fact I had that issue when Mai was released in LR. But now I don't really sweat it tbh. I have the money to buy what I want and DLC is a good way to guarantee game content longevity
DLC will always add longevity tho, if people buy DLC that's more revenue and money the game devs will receive so they can patch and add more content to the game. Tira is a relatively popular character so if people truly want her, they'll just buy her if need be.
No, regular DLC is the one that really adds longevity because it keeps people interested and makes them curious for future updates (this is also why gacha games work, constant influx of new content). Launch DLC just makes people spend more money at launch, which yes, adds money to development, but it is rather scummy when it's stuff that could've easily been left in the base game.
It is scummy but in the long run its a what can you do situation. I mean if people really feel thats strongly about it and don't want to pay for Tira they don't have to, but I'm sure a ton of people will buy her if they love her. If Lili was a dlc character in T8 for example I would buy her no problem at all xD
The backlash from this is justified and it also puts the game's future in a doubtful position...
6$ is nothing, yes, but it's a matter of treating your customers better. Give them *proper* DLC, content developed after release or that was being developed during release, not finished content cut from the base game.
I don't think it'll affect SC6 tbh, there's way too much hype and excitement over it. T7 is including Anna and Lei now in the season pass and no one is complaining, SC6 I feel will follow that as soon as the backlash dies down in a day or two
Honestly the biggest problem with your rhetoric Kasumilover is that again people used it as a reason why SCVI is superior to DOA6 and it's basically the real shit... only to do the exact same shit practice Tekken 7 did. Despite how much DLC DOA deluged us with, atleast they gave us the characters at every major release and or DLC after DOA5's initial release.
