I'm not making DOA like tekken. I'm suggesting that DOA goes more on a character based rank rather than an overall rank. SC has a character based rank too. The overall rank to me's flawed. Especially with how DOA 5:LR handled it. It doesn't give me incentive to try new characters. Eventually, people are stuck having to play low ranks and gain little or lose...
a lot. And it's silly considering how people talk of boosting and all that. Not saying Tekken don't have that too. I think it should be character based. Whether it'd be ft2 format or deathmatch, it doesn't matter. Pros & cons to both.
Ah, yes, the "if they want X game to be more successful, then they should take/copy elements from a much more, ahem, successful game", even though stage transitions were done first by DOA, which Tekken implemented into their games from Tekken 6 onwards. A game is more fun or at the very least more appreciated if its original.
@T..J. Bernard Since when does having a character rank (that lift up every character’s rank after achieving a certain rank) make you want to try new characters? People try characters if they have an interest in them, rank has nothing to do with that. We already have something similar to a character rank called character points. Having a lot of CP with a certain character is way more satisfying than some stupid tag.
SC doesn't lift up character ranks overall. Yeah if I'm interested in a new character, I'ma use them regardless. But if I want to put that knowledge to use, I would like to utilize them in rank and it's not beneficial to go to rank to earn little and lose a lot.
And I'll be honest I can care less about character points. That gives me no care or progress towards my characters. Unless I basically only use that character in rank, it doesn't show how I progressed. I'm known mainly for Rig and I'm far below dudes who don't even use Rig besides like once a month. Not saying I'm some high calibur Rig but I know I should progress more than that.
You want to put your knowledge to use in a rank match? People need to stop seeing rank as something taken seriously since it doesn’t indicate skill in the slightest. All it indicates is the amount of time someone spent in rank.
I think with the previous installment it indicated nothing either. But with the other 3d's heavy emphasis on rank, whether to deathmatch or continue learning, I think it'd be a good idea to implement it for DOA 6. Not w/ the inflated rank for every character that didn't get demoted.
But if DOA wants to re-vamp rank cause rank to me was a joke from the last one, then I would like it for be character based. Plus it gives more of a competitive fire, from the unpredictable opponent to the ft2 which feels like a tournament, I feel that gives me more reward and use for utilizing new characters instead of going by an overall rank with a character point system where dudes don't even have to use....
_____ for majority of rank and the dude's like higher ranked than dudes who grind for the longest and a rank system where you're earning less the higher you get and losing way more.
The only thing that I can't compensate for is boosting. That's just everywhere. But I feel that Character based ranks is nothing like Tekken and it's a good idea to grind rank for.
