Without a back throw, no free mix-up anymore, and SSA is great vs her. I like to think Christie just has to play like everyone else now. Like a pre-patch K' in KoFXIV vs post-patch K' situation.
DoA is more about your reads as a player more than anything. Tiers don't matter much per se. It's just there to tell you, "expect" a potentially harder time vs those characters. It's like 3S and its parry system. If you're Godly at that, anyone is good technically.
Isn't that kinda what "bad" means? Bad relative to others?
I haven't gone through every character exhaustively in training mode yet, but I'll admit that of everyone I've looked at, Marie Rose really is the bottom of the barrel.
I think the issue is that we're confusing bad with useless. I do believe there's a character for everyone and that character can do what each person's mind is thinking. Like Makoto in SSF4 for me worked great. Even before the influx of 'kotos there for her buffs in AE, I was there. Look at Rangchu with Panda.
Well, then you have to define useless. Marie is not "useless" in the sense that she can't win (she absolutely can, even against the top tiers), but she is useless in the sense that there's no fundamental reason to pick her over another character aside from aesthetics (or, perhaps, you think you can get weird by abusing lack of MU experience or something).
I agree. The thing with most people who pick up a new fighter is that they'll go religiously by the tiers thus never take the time to lab vs said characters or not use them. Tiers matter at high level more but that mindset creates things like FANG/Birdie/Vega being high up in the leaderboards online or SonicFox FANG getting a high placing in SFV and GentlemanTheif with Juri. Lack of MU knowledge is the worst feeling.
Not broken/literal #1 = Bad. She doesn't have dumb stuns and an instant BT mixup anymore, that and the sidestep was fixed so she can't just mash all day and still beat SS. You actually have to think with her now. No more free wins. You want to talk about bad? Go play Ein in 5U. Then come back and play Christie in 6 so you can see how good you really have it.
I think so. Thanks to a lack of lobbies I don't have as much MU experience as I'd like to for any character, but it's also worth noting that I don't main or sub Marie, so I don't really have any bias swaying my assessment one way or the other. If you're curious and can carve out a bit of time, check her out in the lab. She doesn't excel at anything, nor is she a balanced, jack-of-all-trades type.
Her holds can lead into some cool combos and set-ups, but you're expending a lot of energy to do what other characters do better for less work, and that's about the best-case scenario.
I mean, if someone figured out the secret genius buried in her toolkit and I just missed it, by all means, tell me. But from what I've discovered thus far, she's probably the most underwhelming character in 5 or 6. It's really weird.
MR isn't even remotely bad. Holds with guaranteed setups, parry with guaranteed setups, a parry that can also be an OH that gives guaranteed setups. She has short range and bad tracking, but she's not even remotely bad.
Well that escalated quickly. Again Marie Rose isn't really "bad", she's just unfortunately the worst character in DOA6 compared to pretty much everyone (which is more a testament to the closeness of the tiers), except, maybe Honoka. Basically, just play Leifang, or anyone else if you want to be competitive, unless you really want to make things harder on yourself. Don't even get me started on the Marie vs. Ayane MU.
