Oh, that is the gaming laptop you have? I would recommend taking it to a PC repair shop and get their opinion on how to upgrade. I usually just sell my old laptop after an upgrade to recoup costs.
Some laptops can't be upgraded so you have to be careful. Reason for that is because the GPUs are soldered into the motherboard and cannot be replaced because it's tailored to laptop optimization. Like @Force_of_Nature mentioned, most people would take their old ones + cash to cover the cost for an entire new laptop. Essentially a full upgrade by replacing the entire laptop.
A 4070 is really good. Though I think the only issue is that the RTX40s are still new so you'd have to buy an entire new laptop for it (not a huge fan of laptops in general as they are mostly overpriced and has limitations and permanent battery life damages as years ago by). A 4080 and 4090 is overkill, but a 4070 is perfectly fine for majority of games out there.
What's your budget? What games do you play? What resolution are you going to use (4K, 1080p, etc)? What's your monitor? What graphic quality do you want to achieve per game (Ultra, High, Medium, etc)? Start with a budget you are willing to spend. Then consider your monitor (eg is it 1080p with a 120hz refresh rate, if so find a card that can run games at 1080p120FPS+ at a graphic quality you desire).
If you want to see every individual volumetric strand of Lili's hair raytraced and shadowed at 4K set to highest anti-aliasing, get a 4090 card and call it a day (<--joke btw dont take this serious)
I live in Cali now so I have a pretty flexible budget but I'd rather just upgrade if I could but I'm willing to buy a new one if I have to. I can run games on my PC but there's a slow down in frame rate.
I prefer laptops since a actual build I don't have the time to actually build myself xD I may call and see if my PC can be upgraded tho
@KasumiLover There is a chance your PC Desktop can be upgraded (definitely worth checking), though not sure how old your PC is (especially the motherboard). I have an RTX 3080 and it was an upgrade from a 1080Ti, but the only reason why I was able to upgrade it was because my Power Supply already came with the 3 cords.
