the time skip seems okay with mortal kombat, with soul calibur it was a big no-no because the roster was really loved and besides canonically nearly everyone is dead lol

So you think that MK characters aren't loved? I don't want old ugly Jade or her daughter, I want Jade I know. But for me if any of the ninja girls will get old then fans will kill NetherRealm. Also I guess that 25 years gap is a pretext to not bring back characters who missed in MK9.
