I could personally go a pretty long while discussing sexualization and character design...like how Honoka is a poorly designed, oversexualized character

its not like i took any classes on the subject of character design its just something ive started paying more and more attention and as such ive been able to notice patterns. combine that with my "preferences" and i feel like im able to look at both sides objectively and see what they were trying to cater towards

I wish too, but there's always an argument started in the midst of these serious discussions, and then the thread either gets closed or a mod has to step in before everything completely blows up. As hard as we try, there'll always be drama ~_~ *sigh*

well the thing is its always started as an argument and some people like us try to turn it into discussion. if we start the discussion that shouldn't happen

I have my position and I am highly defensive about it because I and many others have been fucked with for our hobbies for upwards of 20 years now and quite frankly are sick of it. That kinda poisons the well of discussion before it even starts.

thats not the point of the discussion though. i have no intention to shame anyone over what they find as enjoyable character design this is more about recognizing it, figuring out what causes the confusion, why male sexualization is perceived different than females, etc...

Ahh I see. It seems like people don't really value male bodies the way that they value female bodies. I think the causes for that is beyond my pay grade.

well since males can legally expose more what's considered "sexual" as opposed to "normal" can be a bit different. there is also the whole "player" vs "slut shaming" thing to consider

It's just strange...us guys in games are sexualized and objectified all the time and no one bats an eye, but all hell breaks loose if a female is in that same manner....it's kind of funny in a way.

they actually arent, at least not as often as you would think. they look good and they might be sexy but rarely is an outfit designed to portray parts of their body in an erotic fashion.

i.e. no Dick bulges/cock physics?

although japanese males have been moving towards that direction. they love targeting fangirls

I don't have much issue with sexualization as long as it's equal. People don't really buy games to look at unattractive people.
