I also don't agree with the LR argument, if anything we lost stuff from U to LR because Honoka and Naotora exist now (@KasumiLover69 , I'm sorry, buddy). U was godlike, LR's main function was being a port for the next gen consoles and PC, nothing more.

Everlasting appeal goes out the the window when games like Tekken re-use animations from 22 years ago.

Honoka is a mistake xD

Perfect? No, but better, a lot of games have, much better. Even for 3d fighters, it seems that games like tekken tag 2 have better netplay. And it is also an important deal for part of the fanbase, or you are saying that i should just not play the game because the netplay has nothing to do with the game?

Please don't mind me. I'm just a little shady today guys lol

@Sotherius You should play the game, however its quality is not determined by how the netplay is. It's also not an important part of the fanbase, the majority of the cesspool that surrounds the FGC comes from the online community.

Did you just also consciously say TTT2 has a better netcode than DOA5? If so, I have nothing else to argue here.

@Project Bokuho No offence taken, bud.

Well, i didn't say, i say that "it seems", is what i got from research. But i disagree, i think that the quality of its game is affected by the quality of its features, how can a game be great if it has a big problem that stops me from playing it? I would travel around the world to play my favorite games with people, but i can't, i have to keep my job and i don't have the money necessary.

Need DOA6 right now.

@Sotherius Does that mean that all games that existed before online play was a thing were bad? It's a difference of the times, nothing's stoping you from playing the game, you just need to do it in a casual setting.

I'm a competitive player, and I have been for many years, however I also don't have an offline scene where I can play with other people, that doesn't mean I'm desperately trying to play online all the time.

You're on the process of learning the game yourself, now more than ever, you should stay the hell away from online as much as possible.
Sotherius
Sotherius
exactly, a difference of times, and nowadays, a good netcode should be a requirement for any fighting game.
And even older games have online support nowadays in one way or another.

And yeah, not having people to play surely isn't stopping me from playing the game, let me tell you how fun is to spend 40 + hours fighting the A.I. only...

That would be the standard if FGs weren't a competitive medium, that's what separates the casual audience from the competitive one, the game's quality comes from it's mechanics and reliability, not from content, otherwise DOA would the best FG ever with all the goddamn costumes we have now.

All we really need is a new net code, a new mode and at least one more MALE dlc character.

It goes into what I said at the beginning of the status, the process to making an FG nowadays is more complicated than most AAA titles.

People have played offline by their own for way longer than that, years even. Again, it's the telling difference between the type of FG players there are. You still don't know where you stand yourself.

@GlamTron3000 SPOILER: We get a licensed stage (and costumes) inspired by either Ni-Oh, Dissidia Arcade, or Sailor Moon (or a combination of all three), but the guest character we get may be either Kage-Maru, Vanessa from KOF, or Tifa from Final Fantasy.
Sotherius

I don't want to play "casually", i want to improve and understand the game's mechanics to its fullest, like with every game i try, that is not possible in a single player scenario with a fighting game, and a fighting game released nowadays without an online mode would be faded to die.

@Sotherius I wish you could see the contradiction in what you just said. Online is merely a practice tool, it is not going to help you improve in any way, if anything, it'll teach you bad habits. Most of the work will come from your own, it's like I've been telling you before, you haven't even gotten to frame data, and you're already burning out on playing on your own? Not a good sign.
Darkslay

Just look at SFV and its disaster 8 frame delay to create an online-centric competitive environment. Both things don't work together, there's a reason why people say you play a different game when you play online, one day you'll come to understand that, hopefully.

@Awesmic I'll take the Ni-Oh pack and Tifa, please.
Sotherius
Sotherius
Not exactly true, The Skullgirls base is almost entirely online, and there is a lot of online warriors placing on top 4's on majors and what not, the game just has a decent netcode so people can play the game in a more decent enviroment. So is the case with Killer Instinct. A good netcode allows Netplay to be a good improving ground and a good place to understand the game and be competitive.
Sotherius
Sotherius
Frame data, perfect execution, knowing the game is only part of really being an adept player in a fighting game, experience against real people is a big part of it, learning to condition oponents, test how reliable some mixups are, and even more. SFV is a poor example of netplay centric fighting game, Skullgirls and Killer Instinct are excellent examples on online done right.
