"Lazy".
Trust me, if the mods took a WEEK off from moderating, this place would go to straight shit.
And as for specific thread this post is referring to (the Halloween Designer Challenge 2017), there's no point for it to be open anymore. The costumes are out, they' ve been fixed. There's nothing else that could be added that hasn't already been said.
@Toxic901 Because people don't listen. There is a very long history of that exact practice, much of it chronicled in the infamous "Casual Thread." Eventually, it became evident that the options were to:
1) Abandon all moderation.
2) Ban everyone over and over again.
or 3) Lock potentially troublesome threads after their purpose had been fulfilled.
We try to leave threads that still have functional purpose open for as long as possible, since locking a relevant thread before a conversation is concluded often results in another thread of its type opening anyway. A particular sensitivity exists for costume/speculation discussions, however, in light of the Casual Thread.
As for deleting posts, that actually happens very regularly. I've had to delete several pages of posts at a time to re-align threads. You just don't see it, because they're deleted.
@KasumiLover69 Mod? As in singular? Do enlighten us as to which mod you deem to be the laziest/most inactive.
Well, yes. The DLC Costumes thread was getting out of hand because new costumes weren't being released so people resorted to shitposting. When new costumes came out, they were discussed at length in the relevant (Halloween) thread. Once that discussion ran its course, the thread was closed, as there's currently nothing to discuss.
I'm not saying this rhetorically, but what exactly is the problem as you see it?
For some reason I feel like I know this person. Anyway, Brute has listed several reasons already for why we do what we do. Personally, I'm more competitively focused than community focused, so while I don't half ass anything I start it's going to be rare I do anything at all here. The time I do use for the community is used to maintain the competitive FB group, mostly.
If DOA doesn't run through their veins, what makes you think moderating would? They stay on it and give people a chance to breath when it gets out of hand.
If you have a suggestion try sending a considerate PM instead of being rude. Not to mention the other mods have other projects they work on as well. Are you one of those entitled people?
It would look like I'm trolling if I did that. brute gives reasons that make sense but I don't agree with the locks over clean up and warnings. I guess I'm use to the way other fourm sites work.
