Actually, I couldn't even if I wanted to. Smallest time I can ban someone for is 1 day.

What is wrong with people ? Why would they ask to get banned ? If they don’t feel like being on this forum anymore they could just stop logging in.

Some people just want to take a break from social media or related things. They can get addicted so sometimes forced breaks can be necessary.

I think people do this as a way to protest against KasumiLover's ban which is quite stupid. Or they do this just to copycat

That would be the least effective method of protest ever employed.

I'm pretty sure Legendary Goken did it because he legitimately wanted to go on a hiatus. If someone wants to protest KasumiLover's ban, they need to put up a better justification for him not getting banned than the justification put forth by Brute for his banning.
