Wait the first doax had local multiplayer? That's cool I guess. Remember when almost every game had local multiplayer? Those were the days! :D I wish more games would have split screen time stuff now a days but oh well. And yeah the jetskis and waterslide seem cool so I want to play them. ( also It means I can finally see this infamous waterslide everyone's talked about for all these years that Gen fu flew off. :p )

Yes, it had a fun multiplayer mode and you were able start a match against a friend or against the CPU at any time, on the stage and with the characters you chose. Basically how it works in the DOA fighting games too. You didn't need to play the campaign with the time contantly running out.
As I mentioned earlier, it was a way better game than DOAX2 and DOAX3. They imo could've made a proper main stream game series out of it, if they hadn't thrown away quality content, while at the same time going full on voyerism simulation.

Really? I'm not sure that it having local multiplayer makes it better than the others? I haven't played it though so I really don't know. The main part of the game is actually playing through the vacation though and then you can play another one to continue. The lack of extra content in comparison to the later games is what I'm thinking about too. There's more to do in the newer ones... Well I mean doax2 at least since they took out a lot of characters and mini games, accessories in doax3 which is something they really need to bring back.

In the future of the side series something I'd say is.

1. Bring back multiplayer matches both online and offline.
2. Having some sort of tournament mode would be pretty cool too I think, Maybe with unlock able hair and clothes or accessories etc as the prizes?

Because it doesn't… not sure if there is a single reasonably objective metric that makes X1 a better game let alone a much better game, actually I think if you make a carbon copy of X1 with X3's (or LRs) visuals, it's the inferior product…

None of the games have much to offer in the gameplay department, but X1 is still the worst… the only daytime activities are Volleyball and Solo Pool Hopping and you have the same Casino games (well + Slot machines I guess… but that's pressing a button every 30 secs). The Volleyball controls and pacing are almost identical in both titles, though X3 requires more precise positioning and timing (for perfect spikes and such) – so it requires a bit more skill. The difficulty curve is also better adjusted in X3: EASY opponent are… well easy, two hard opponents – while still not particularly hard to beat – put up enough of a challenge, so 7-0 is non-trivial. Once you got the hang of X1 after 1-2h every match was 7-0, unless your AI partner fucks up. That's also the main problem with X1's Multiplayer… two reasonably competent players will pass the ball back and forth till one of the AIs does something stupid, the general mechanics are just not deep enough for meaningful multiplayer and the loose requirements for positioning/timing in X1 make matters worse.

X3 is the only title that at least offers some sort of progression with the Owner/Excitement Level stuff and various unlockables tied to those. I'm not saying it's good, but it's at least something.

When it comes to collectibles it also beats X1… with the DLC and other patched content there are more swimsuits and other items to collect and more gravures to watch. Though I guess you could say X1 has more char customization due to accessories.

To be clear I'm not making the argument that X3 is a particularly good game, I'm making the argument that it's not worse than X1.
I think all games are more or less in the same ballpark in quality. X1 had the least content, but was somewhat polished, X2 added a bunch of stuff, but most of it was rather meh, X3 is somewhere in between.

If they ever make X4 I think they should focus on the single player aspect e.g. expand on the Owner Mode aspect and add some points after leveling up, to upgrade stuff on the island, unlock new locations and activities. Currently all games have the issue that “you've seen it all” after one vacation, I think that's a fairly easy way to address this problem… basically add a stronger sense of progression. With the small user base hardly anyone will care about the Multiplayer aspect, unless you can get XP/money from Online matches or something, so I honestly think that's a waste of resources.

Yeah that's what I was thinking, that in terms of content the multiplayer aspect is cool but not really big enough of a feature to make or break if doax is or isn't better than the others. ( And to be honest yeah thinking about it there probably isn't really a big enough player base to have an online mode, Still it could be cool :p )

And yeah in terms of content from most to least it seems to be x2 - x3 - x

And with the owner mode it could be annoying at times but it did add a good sense of progression that you were always aiming towards a new unlockable etc. I'd like to see some sort of return of that in a future game so that there's more long term goals in the game. I'll admit though the constant watching volleyball games to get owner money for the dlc was really tiring and annoying tbh so maybe work around that in someway?

For future games I can't exactly think of specific things that should be added ( you know other than the things that should be RE-added like the characters and mini games. ) but for completely new things I'm not entirely sure other than more characters, more mini games, bikinis etc and more progression of long term goal type things.

It's not like I'm opposed to on/offline MP, but currently none of the activities are worth it imo… ask yourself how often you really want to play Butt Battle online. If the game had like 50 mini games and you had some Mario Party like stuff… then sure why not, but that's obviously not happening. The only stuff with MP potential are Volleyball and the Jet Ski racing, but without some major tweaking Volleyball is not really suited for MP and having fun, online Jet Ski races requires a good racing game to begin with… and that's not happening either. The efforts for both activities from X2 were not good.

Sure the progression speed and rewards could use some serious tweaking, I guess a better mission system with higher rewards could help (e.g. you can have a girl, owner and photo mode mission at once but those are more involved) and maybe something to do during watch mode… idk cheer them on and if you do it at the right time, they gain some satisfaction and you gain some money…

You've actually got me thinking now of how great an online mario party game would be if no one left half way through or something...
I think online volleyball and jet skis could be fun though so maybe that?

And yeah adding something to watch mode would bee good because a lot of the time it's just sitting there watching them waiting to get the owner money. So having something to do during it would be a good addition. So much of the things they have to add in the next game though are just things that were removed from doax3 from doax2 that we've said before. Once those are added back in then they can go onto all the new things that can be added to the game. Whether that's things like open world like people were saying or more characters who knows.

Lol okay that's it arrived! I just watched the opening and am at the main menu! :D

edit: omg I just watched the opening with Zack and Niki and they are so good. XD Niki's just as ridiculous as zack. That's something I really wish doax3 had, A crazy zack and niki opening.

Edit 2: Okay that's me completed my first vacation ( as Lisa obviously. ;) ) lol at that ending, Also there's dinosaurs running around the island! I managed to get all the mini game tickets for her and also the Fortune, Venus and Arthemis! :D

Okay lol at this point I've played at least one vacation as every character in the game. I spent the vacations trying to gift their outfits to Lisa. :p
Also damn at this point I'm the "kween of jetskis" after how many races I have done to get money! :<

Anyway I just wanted the play the game just for a while just to check it out and see how one of the past games were and tbh It has been pretty fun.

@Jadeinchains I did have DOAX2 Love Items at one point on my old DOAX site Nice Spike!, but I lost all that info on an old computer, unfortunately. The items for the girls in X3 that are also in X2 are pretty much the same, though. You'll be able to find guides really easily, though.

I'm actually still playing this game on and off. I'm mostly going back and getting more colors of the suits that I like as they're rotated in, but I still want to get all the non-DLC suits for all girls (almost there actually), and take pictures. I don't get as many hits on my site anymore (and sometimes can't update it as much as I'd like), but I like using the pictures for my own personal screen saver.

The thing that disappoints me the most about X3 is that it would be SO easy to upgrade it to be a really great experience. I've had so many ideas for modes and stuff:

- Add Tina, Mila, Rachel, Leifang, Lisa, and Christie
- Add Rio (and have her be the casino dealer like in Paradise), and Niki.
- Add either Naotora, Phase 4 (only if she wore wigs or something so she didn't look so much like Kasumi) or a new character (I had an idea for a new character that could run a 'research station', and it would be a new minigame like Pokemon Snap or Afrika where you go to the locations and take pictures of animals or plants or whatever the character asks for, and you get either cash or items as prizes). And have new character be brown for more diversity (maybe from India?)
- add the jungle (and bring back Waterslide)
- add the marina (and bring back wave race)
- swimming race minigame maybe at the marina
- add a boardwalk and have boardwalk activities like a 'Festival Mode' - like carnival kinda games like water gun shooting at duck or clown targets or goldfish catching (and you could win yukata for the girls)
- could also have rollerblade racing obstacle courses on boardwalk
- add a volleyball tournament mode, for both online and offline. Offline would take up a chunk of vacation time, but you could get a boatload of money or an exclusive suit. Online would work like Tekken 7's tournament mode
- bring back accessory shop (and have jewelry too)
- add Nyotengu's tengu drills hairstyle (like WHY isn't it there now???)
- bring back slot machines in casino, and maybe add other games like craps
- larger swimsuit collections per girl (bring back some DOAX1 faves)
- online play
- bring back gravure cloning
- add photo mode into the S Rank vacation endings for each girl (like WHY isn't this a thing already???)
- absorb the most popular colors of DLC suits into the collections of all girls, and then have other DLC. If you want to do paid, make it cheaper so people won't save scum the roulette wheel.
- as far as fashion DLC, bring the cheerleading outfits, tennis outfits, volleyball outfits (like Christie, Lisa, and Kokoro have in LR), the new rodeo outfits, and some casual ones that are like normal clothes - that sort of stuff would be way better than the dumb Santa outfits.
- gravures in the hotel room, or just the girls doing more than sitting on the bed - like reading at the table, or standing on the balcony, or playing on their phone on the couch, or folding a bathing suit to put in their suitcase.

Even a fraction of those things would be a huge improvement. For me, DOAX is all about volleyball, so I always like DOAX1 best over DOAX2 (because the volleyball was crap and the boob movement was so stupid and distracting that it hurt my soul). But DOAX3 perfected that, so it's my fave... but X1 does get points for having Christie and Tina in it.

Please hire me, Hayashi. Or at least start a kickstarter or something for DOAX3: Last Getaway since it's obvious that this was a budget-ass budget game.

I hated how DOAX1 wasn't backwards compatible for the 360, since DOA3 and DOAU were backwards compatible it would have been nice if that was as well. I gave my original Xbox away years ago but I still have all my games for it.

Oh you were the owner of Nice Spike? I loved that site and used to visit it a lot, it was so helpful. Can't believe that was over a decade ago..

Yeah luckily I managed to find some love lists on doax2 so I didn't have to go in blind or anything. :p I heard that Lisa was pretty excepting of gifts but lol not from my experience! XD She'd always say to me in a really condescending tone. "Umm, okay. I'll just hold onto this..." She's still a queen but god damnit Lisa I'm just trying to gift you encyclopedias and bikinis! :<

And yeah I still play doax3 every once in a while but It's more just to check out the characters gravures and stuff since I think they look cool. And yeah I actually check out your blog too! :D

And lol they should hire you, Those suggests would be great. I've been hoping for a lot of that stuff too. Mainly the inclusion of the missing girls and missing activities. ( Especially now that I've played the jet skis and water slide. I actually really liked them, Especially jet skis. I actually spent lots of the time just doing that. ) I'd love to see Niki finally be playable too, Based on the cutscenes and Zack's endings in doa3 and doa4 she's just as crazy and funny as Zack is. Some kind of Pokemon snap ( loved that game ) thing would be entertaining too depending on how they did it.

And yeah after playing doax2 the accessory shop really added a cool aspect to the game of shoes and hats etc. Some of them lol were not my style or something I'd get for... anyone but there was plenty of things that were nice looking. And yeah they should have had bedroom gravures. The bathtub was there and they could of had random ones like chilling out on the couch or something lol.

It really is a shame too because it really would have been like if they'd just went the doa5 route of psn dlc from the very start it could have been supported for longer and maybe we would have eventually got all of this stuff? Who knows, Maybe they will eventually reveal plans for doa3 ultimate or something. I'd love to see Lisa in doax3.

Also Incase anyone wasn't aware this is this months dlc that's been revealed for doa5lr -

DBj8k-9U0AELZtt

A bikini set collab with Gust, This would have been so perfect for doax3. Maybe it would have came out for it if it was supported for longer? It would be great if they brought it over to doax3.
