I think p4 has battlefield as her stage already
Battlefield was already included on-disc, it wasn't released with P4. I thought he was talking about the other two DLC characters not being released alongside new stages, since MR was the only one we actually got a new stage with upon release.

Yeah, I was just referencing the idea of the characters having stages. Because in Ultimate Leon had a desert stage (even though its from NG, it fits), Momiji & Rachel had NG stages (don't count Jacky). I guess I didn't relate Marie Rose with Lorelei because we already had it, just with the haunted skin. But I'd take that. I guess we can just say that Nyotengu and P4 have stages, just already on disk, with the Forrest and battlefield/lab.

I just want stages over other crap, lol

There was a stage on disc that should have been unlocked when Phase 4 was released, the burning lab that you only fight in once in story mode. Should have been unlocked from the start but Phase 4's release would have been a good time to finally do it.

I hope that the red tint on the menu screens change to blue or green. Can someone make an edit?

That's probably not going to happen, seeing as how the main theme color for Dead or Alive 5 is red. Heck, even the Last Round subtitle on the logo is red. Not to mention, the 5 is red and the Ultimate subtitle was surrounded by red. Sorry, but the red is here to stay.

Theres the "Playse" tournament in Japan next week and Shimbori confirmed that he will be attending... so...

I'm hoping he reveals something there..

Thanks for the info EC! Hopefully that is the case. :D Is it common for people to announce that their attending events? If not, that does sound like a hint.

I think it was the only stage, that had morning/evening-time, day-time and night-time. It would be so awesome to have that again.

Actually you could do something similar even in "The Beach" from Doa3 (to be precise you could select day-time or sunset). More in DoA4 the stage Kyoto in Bloom had two different slots for a day-time and night time-version of it.

Another thing I do really miss is the snow animation, when someone goes through it in "The Snow", "White Storm" or "Koku An". That would also work in "The Dessert" or "Zack Island" on PS4 / XboxOne.

I agree, I remember how you could select the degree of snowfall in the stage in both "The Snow" and "White Storm". I miss these and other details (as the footprints on the ground) me too.

This has always been doa5s biggest issue. The new director has absolutely zero sense of style, creativity, or presentation compared to the original guy.

New guy(?) is way too formulaic with their approach.

Haha yeah in terms of their games' beauty I would rate Itagaki's old team as master ninjas and Hayashi's team as ninja dogs :p DOA2U, 3, and 4 still look amazing because those guys understood aesthetics, it wasn't just about pushing polys and tits.

We already know this but this is TN's full response to the stage/retail discussion:
Dead or Alive Game No stages on PS3/X360 made you mad. We noticed that. However, last gen spec and current gen spec is so different to be honest and if we optimize the game to last gen, we can't archive the game suited for current gen. The reason why we can not make last gen retail version is that retailers in the west can not take them and make them in stock. They are not supporting last gen game any more. Some of the developers like UBI, Bethesda, Warner will rapidly shift their production line from last gen to new gen console as you may know. Always this has been happened when 1st party launched newer consoles. But we are not saying that we won't dramatically cut off last gen users like someone already started. We've tried to deal with everyone as fair as possible.

Can someone explain the line: "if we optimize the game to last gen, we can't archive the game suited for current gen"? To me it sounds like they're saying they don't want to downgrade the stages for last gen b/c it will somehow mess up the current gen stages which makes zero sense to me. They've already said the specs are completely different so they had to create 2 different versions of everything anyway.

And then the line "we won't dramatically cut off last gen users" also makes no sense as we've already seen that last gen players won't get 2 of the 3 advertised new features (stages+customization). What is their definition of dramatic?

I understand the retailers point however they could still give the characters new hairstyles like many people have already pointed out.

I would buy that if they were re-optimizing everything to truly take advantage of the new hardware all-around. Higher texture resolution, higher poly counts, dramatically new elements, etc. But their versions of Danger Zone and Crimson look completely like something that could run on last gen consoles. They haven't touched much of the texture quality or fixed the poly counts so it's clear they're not going for universal next-gen optimization. It's not like the Halo Master Chief Collection for Xbox One where you look at it and go: "Oh wow. Everything has been re-hauled and it's clear that this wouldn't run on last gen hardware." If the way TN constructed Crimson and Danger Zone truly wouldn't run on last gen consoles, they simply built the stages in a sub-optimal way that requires higher specs than it needs to, because the visual quality of the stages certainly doesn't scream "Current Gen" (same can be said for most of their other visual "enhancements" aside from 1080).

Still seems like a marketing gimmick to push their audience into re-purchasing the game on current gen systems and getting their market transitioned and settled there for upcoming releases. The "we won't give you a costume accessory menu on the character select screen for last gen" spiel doesn't help their case, either, since it clearly demonstrates they are deliberately locking out features for last gen that are completely feasible for the hardware.
