And look at that...there are apparently still games that can render good looking hair in this generation:

By the way, in the arcades of this game you will be able to play Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown:

Yakuza always looks looks great. Even Yakuza 3 and Kenzan still look amazing. They can make realistic faces without going into uncanny valley territory.

Wow a game within a game... Gameception

I've never played a Yakuza game but it looks really good but I don't know what to expect from it, what are the other games like?

Yakuza 5 was free a bit ago, I bought it.

The games are linear open world beat em ups, you can do a few things while roaming around the town, mini games , go to arcades, play pachinko, side quests helping other people and obviously beating people to a pulp lol

Yakuza 6 is the first PS4 only game too so they have the ability to really focus on tbe games look.

Really hope we get Yakuza Kiwami, the feudal Japan spin off and 6 eventually in the next few years too.

Yakuza is like a 3D expanded River City Ransom.
Basically, you go around Japanese cities's districts (mostly red light and yakuza ridden) to beat up people who bother you, play fun minigames of all sorts of variety, solve people's problems through quests (some are very funny) and go through the game's story. I only played the first three and I have yet to finish the third one, but I can guarantee it's a very fun series. The main focus is the brutal brawl fighting, and it's very fun. There are all sorts of ways to hurt your enemies in exaggerate, violent ways, so it's a good stress reliever.
The second one' story left me bitter, but people like it so I still recommend it.

It is a bit different than GTA: unlike GTA, Kazuma Kiryu won't perform violence on innocents, only to people who want to fight him, stop him and provoke him, and when you enter in a fight, it is in a different map than the main one, at least in Yakuza 1/2/3 (dunno about the others). Also you can't steal vehicles and such. Kazuma is a good guy, he has a heart of gold, so it makes sense you can't do this stuff.
The core of the game is the brawling and you can do all sorts of moves, use all sorts of items (bycicles, trash cans, etc) as weapons, slam your opponents on proprs, etc, so of course in this regard is better done than GTA (but worse than God Hand, I guess).

It's a very Japanese game and I recommend it. Yakuza 5 even has a idol story and idol dancing minigame, not to mention all the karaoke songs, the real life product commercials... It's very awesome, it feels like a well done exaggeration of Japan. I dunno how to explain it well, but, for example, in Yakuza 3 there are older women fangirling a fictional K-pop singer, and Yakuza 2 references a popular K-drama among women in Japan from the time the game was released. It feels legit because it clearly knows what it's talking about, sometimes.

The stories are generally enjoyable too, if you like seinen and yakuza stories. I loved the story of the first game and enjoyed the one in the third game too. Kazuma Kiryu is awesome, he is sexy, cool, badass, heartwarming, a good parent, basically a dream man.

I can't recommend this series enough lol.

River City Ransom was a great game, I loved it. I always wanted to try Yakuza but I'm not sure if the game is right for me. But if you can beat up people and run around like in GTA I may consider getting it.

Yeah I've heard about Yakuza for a while but have never tried it out so I guess I might give this one that's coming out a go.

I think I heard about the 4th one when I was like 12-14 on IGN, I always wanted it but I wasn't 17 so my mom wouldn't even think to buy it for me but now I'm 18. :-D I won't be able to get it like right away since I want KOFXIV and Persona 5, but it may depend on the release date and if I can get my dad to get it for me instead.

I actually thought it looks pretty good, The art style is really good too. I'm sure DOA6 will be better looking anyway since it will be the future that it comes out.

I agree that the art style and some of the character design is pretty good.
Nioh can really give us a good impression of what we can expect from DOA 6:

The character modelling is good. Though mostly just the heads and faces. The bodies/clothing seems to be not so much improved over last generation. There are still some polygon edges and low res textures to be found there. The hair however. *__* Smooth hair without too many jaggies are actually still possible (see also Yakuza 6) this generation.

The good thing is, Nioh should be a bit more demaning than a DOA game on a technical level. Running like DOA5LR in 1080p and 60fps but having much bigger levels, more enemies and a lot more special effects on screen. There should be some aditional room for more eye candy in DOA6. :)

Yeah luckily doa6 won't have to run as much stuff as Nioh and yeah the characters look so good in nioh especially that Japanese woman, Her face is so japanese and natural that she looks really good. :)

So it turns out Tekken 7 looks incredibly shitty on PS4:

Bad image quality, flat, discolored lighting and washed out ground textures that have never heard of anisotropic filtering. I swear by now they aren't even trying anymore on consoles. Games literally look worse each passing year.

This is what the arcade and PC versions look like for comparison:

People are still definitely making games look better and better each year its really just that Tekken has never been a good looking game graphics wise. I was originally shocked though by how bad Tekken 7 looked but I think they are okay now though.

Do you not at least think characters like Master Raven look good?

On PC at least, yes.

The character models are very inconsistent in my opinion. The newer ones look great (exluding Lucky Chloe, she is pretty low polygon actually) the older ones are almost unchanged from TTT2. Do you remember when we compared the polygon models of Kazuya's suit some months ago? They are the exact same since Tekken 6. That can't be right...and it still looks so shitty on PS4?

Lol yeah I remember the compared image of his suit, I always remember looking at how awful Lili's finger looked in it. But yeah some characters look bad while the new characters like Master Raven look really good.

Wow, this is so cool! O: Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator gets it's Digital Figure Mode soon:

The character models looks so amazing (and remember, this is a cross gen game, imagine how great they could look in a true current gen game!). A mode to marvel at them and to take pics was sorely needed. I have to get this game. >__< Unfortunately I suck at 2D fighters and the DFM would be the only use I would get out of the game. XD
