Ah I see! Similar too Virtua Fighter 5 (before Final Showdown) or recently Street Fighter V. Well, if it is not as shameless money mokaing as in Street Fighter 5 but more like VF5 then I would be alright with that.

Final Fantasy XV's Duscae region over time:

Tech demo, November 2014:

jZAmlIy.jpg

Final_Fantasy_XV_1080p_screens_17_11_1.jpg

Great, natural lighting, high grass density and visibility radius but few trees or other objects, clearly unfinished yet.

Episode Duscae Demo, March 2015:

Final-Fantasy-XV_2015_02-16-15_001.png

Adjusted lighting, less grass density and smaller visibility radius but more trees and other objects, area still unfinished around it's borders though.

Gamescom master version, August 2016:

28954423661_f2c8f83258_o.jpg

29734073880_680a6b4f72_o.png

Downgraded lighting, flatter but brighter and more colorful, even less grass density and even smaller visibility radius, swapped trees and bushes for different ones, LOD (level of detail in teh distance) is atrocious. D:

Retail version, end of 2016:

7eb6jAw.jpg

final-fantasy-xv-75232.jpg

Lighting upgraded again (though not reaching Duscae or 2014 lighting), grass density the same as in Gamescom master version but the visibility radius is bigger. Added vegetation like trees and bushes, LOD of trees and bushes is a lot higher than in the Gamescom master version.

So which version do you like best? :)
The retail version and the original one with the best lighting and foliage are my personal favorites.

I agree. It looked great initially, took a big hit in the middle of development but now is starting to look different but great again.
And at least they tried, some games look so well done early in development but when retail day comes it's so gimped down and downgraded, FF hasn't done that at all aside from lighting and foliage and even then that's because they had to cut some corners and even restored most of it back in this final version

In need glasses, because it's hard to tell the difference with 144px images scanned from YouTube lol

The image quality just looks bad, as if you watched the video in full screen then print screened it xD

Of course the image quality isn't perfect because these are screencaps of a 1080p but compressed Youtube video. Still this is a good way (the only way) for us to directly compare the different game builds as long as developers don't release direct footage videos, which they hardly ever do.That they look like 144pixel images is way exaggerated though. o__O But of course we have to keep in mind that this footage will look much clearer in the actual game.

The new Red Dead Redemption 2 looks amazing:

And since it is only announced for PS4 and Xbox One (similar to GTAV back then) I suppose what we see are actually console graphics.

Doesn't look that impressive at all to me.

It does definitley look impressive for a PS4/Xbone game. Look at that LOD and grass till the horizon. Looks actually to good to be true imo. But they confirmed this was captured on a PS4, so...

Here's by the way how the remastered Spedial Edition of Skyrim looks in comparison to the PS3 version:

Captured on the Ps4 using in-engine footage 99.9% like most other reveals (Uncharted 4 for example). Should take "captured in" with a grain of salt.

Game might look close to this on the Ps4 Pro and PC (when it releases...it will...must believe D: ), definitely not on the Ps4 vanilla.

Picked up Remember Me on steam. had it on 360 before but i wanted it again.

This game is kinda like the Advent children movie in that almost any single screenshot is a gorgeous picture in and of itself. It helps that capcom just did a phenomenal job with the cinematography in this game. the graphics themselves are nothing to write home about (game was 2013), but the camera is just...amazing. Its always at a slight angle, and always at the RIGHT angle to make things breathtaking, imo. I'm gonna keep screenshotting the hell out of this game as I play it again.

Actually it was Dontnod Entertainment that developed this game(The same people who did Life Is Gay). I wish they would have spent just a bit more time working on the combat. It is very clunky.

Crystal Dynamics details the PS4 Pro mode of Rise of the Tomb Raider:

In the Enriched Visuals mode you will be getting:
- Hardware tessellation has been added
- Anisotropic filtering has been increased
- Additional dynamic foliage
- Increased LOD
- Additional PureHair strands (like the highest setting on PC)
- Sun soft shadows also come over from PC
- Improved bokeh DOF

And here's how Ratchet and Clank looks on PS4 pro:

Pretty cool. I'm playing Tomb Raider now and it's absolutely stunning already, not to mention a fantastic game. My PSPro fund is now my PSPro + PSVR fund and it's already enough to get the Pro. I have a strong feeling I will be making this jump pretty soon. Hopefully there will be some nice Christmas deals.

You seem to be the most excited about the Pro. I'm still on the fence (lol, I am saying this for at least two months now). Today I'm going to pay my local Gamestop a visit to ask if they have some sort of trade in deal for old PS4s to the PS4 Pro and how exactly that is supposed to work.

Here some more PS4 Pro images. They are all 4K (either native or checkerboard rendered) images then downsampled to 1080p resolution. So this is how the game will look on a usual 1080p TV.

Skyrim Special Edition (native 4K downsampled to 1080p):

(Wow...so clear and crisp.)

Nice pics! Thanks, I do see a difference, but it's not that big, which is also a point they make in this review:

Though I am very excited about it and also now the VR, I too am on the fence to when and slightly if, should I make the jump. Would it be better to first upgrade the TV to an HDR compatible one and then get the PS Pro, or get the PS Pro and VR and later do the TV. Hmm.... So many difficult decisions

The Digital Foundry guys usually are the best in reviewing and explaining tech stuff:

Here's a collection of some more reviews:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1309367

The bottom line seems to be:
It's great for hardcore gamers who are really into tech and graphics and maybe already own a 4k HDR ready TV or people who don't have a PS4 yet. Other than that it's not really a necessary update.
The games that they have tested on the Pro so far look mostly just better in image quality and not much else. You can also not expect real 4k from most games. Testers were a bit disappointed by Uncharted 4. It only manages to reach a 1400p resolution (1080p in multiplayer). That's far away from the 4k that the Pro promises.

After the reviews and some comparisons I am actually more unsure than ever, lol. It's a nice boost...but just visible in detail. Most games' Pro modes are just the bare minimum of what can be done on the console. Games on highend gaming PCs still look considerably better.

Regarding your question: If I were you I'd get the Pro first and then the 4k TV. Even on your 1080p TV you will see an improvement in image quality because 4l (or other resolutions that are higher than 1080p) will be automatically downsampled to fit your TV screen and that will improve aliasing and texture shimmering. With a 4k TV and the regular PS4 you will not see any improvements.
The most visible graphical update you will be able to get on the Pro are also 1080p Pro modes. Modes in which they don't put the power into higher resolutions but into high and ultra graphical settings. Similar to how a game would look on a more powerful PC. That is actually the Pro mode I would prefer for every game. Unfortunately not many developers seem to go for that route. It's just Tomb Raider and Paragon who are announced to have a higher graphical settings 1080p Pro mode. Most just go for 4k/pseudo 4k and their good. :/

@KasumiLover69
There are by the way hardly any framerate improvements on the Pro. The developers so far seem to go for a higher resolution (90% of the time) or graphical boosts. Uncharted for example still stutters from time to time in 1400p and 30fps on the Pro.
