Before even considering the purchase of a next-gen console, I intend to scavenge for the many great games of this generation that I missed as I came into the PS3/360 era rather late (bought a PS3 for DOA 5). That said, I've tried quite a few titles since then, and have been rather disappointed in some of the more popular releases (MGS4, Borderlands, God of War, Uncharted series, Assassin's Creed, etc). I wanted to ask FSD members what your personal favorite titles of this generation are with no regard to genre. A list of five to ten titles would be greatly appreciated, and a few sentences on why you enjoyed them would be even better. Thanks.
I've included my own favorite (in no particular order) for those interested:
-Batman Arkham City
I am a huge DC Comics fan, and this game was a dream come true for me.
-Tomb Raider
Personally, I found this to be much more enjoyable than the Uncharted games (no offense to those who enjoyed them). It just felt a lot less linear and the combat was a lot more fun.
-Dragon Age Origins
-TTT2, P4A, DOA5, BlazBlue, SkullGirls
-Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge
-Catherine
-Bayonetta, Vanquish, DmC
-Dishonored & Bioshock Infinite
Games that I am considering buying in the future are Fallout 3, Mass Effect trilogy, and Dark Souls. Any feedback on these titles would be awesome.
