"Did you enjoy my full course of technique" - Leifang General Strategy Thread

Lei-fang does not have any guaranteed follow-up after Unshu, but she does have single-guess setups. - Generally after having parried a punch with Unshu, you want to use either the :K: follow-up (crumple stun is great to set any critical stun mixup). or :P: follow-up back into Unshu to play...

Kotaku "Dead Or Alive Is More Than Breasts"

I completely agree with the fact that some of the DoA DLC content goes far, but the issue isn't there. DoA's biggest issue is that a game with fun and unique mechanics that is accessible to casual players WHILE being deep enough to be played competitively have never seen some promotion on its...

    DOA5U Phase 4 Match-up discussion

Great thread and posts ! Even though I'm not a Phase expert, I know her well enough to give some insight on the Lei-fang and Eliot MU if needed, and other players sure do, so don't hesitate to squeeze info from everybody for the sake of our beloved clone !

System Changes for Eliot in "Dead or Alive 5 Last Round"

Yeah, frames are what needs to be changed for Eliot : just having a 14 frames natural stun move (not counting 3K's and 9K's abysmally bad stuns non-counter hit) would make his parry useful, and give him a little more edge in matches. and give him a true high launcher because come on, only having...

DOA5U Leifang help for a Leifang beginner

Lei-fang doesn't have a great offense, that enough is completely true. But she can still exploit most of the mechanics of the game to be played agressively : just the delay strings/tick throw/pressure reset is still valid. As Night said, since her defensive game is so good, just throwing out...

DOA5U Phase 4 match video and critique thread

Yeah this MU is hard to play as Phase 4, Akira can call out a lot of Phase's spacing tools. I can just give you a few tips off of my head - Don't remember what the command is, but the string ending with the Tetsuzanko (shoulder tackle) is throw punishable. This screwed your spacing a lot and he...

DOA5U Leifang help for a Leifang beginner

While this is true for every character in this game, the fact that playing Lei-Fang requires to adapt fast is even more relevant for her. While your game will most of the time, rely on stopping the opponent's offense through holds, parries, sabaki moves and crushes, you'll have to learn to be...

"Did you enjoy my full course of technique" - Leifang General Strategy Thread

Yup, and actually you have an even better option : when the opponent is in the air :3::P::4::P:, :2::P::+::K: This one is incredibly good since you get the force tech, and you have a :P: follow-up if the opponent tech rolls (you have to max delay the string). Even if you do it early and it...

    DOA5U Matchup Specific Tech

:2::P::+::K: isn't guaranteed from her sabakis : I had the computer hold it every time. Nevertheless the rest is actually guaranteed, making it a good single guess set-up, I think ? Anyway, regardless of whether it is correct or not, you should rather post it in the combo, or general thread...

"Did you enjoy my full course of technique" - Leifang General Strategy Thread

Aha, I know, it was just a way to give a quick reminder, since I see alot of Lei-fang abusing :2::h::+::k: not because they are bad or anything, just that they forget that they have other awesome options mid-range. On another note, I was wondering how often and in what situations other Lei-Fang...

I Am The Shadow... The True Self... [General Discussion]

Like in every fighting game, when your character isn't suited for opening people, you must go back to fundamentals. countering/punishing is one we have covered earlier, but flexibility is another one : If you can't open the opponent because your character haven't good options to do that, then...

"Did you enjoy my full course of technique" - Leifang General Strategy Thread

Lei Fang's :2::H::+::K: is really good mid range but also really risky. Don't forget to use her offensive holds mid-range for whiff punish : the range on those is incredibly good and do decent damage ! You can also use it to test the waters and see if your opponent is able to throw punish their...

I Am The Shadow... The True Self... [General Discussion]

Yeah a lot of 6Ps are unsafe by themselves, but most of them either lead to some sort of mixup/stance game, or have a relatively safe option on block ! Phase 4 is one of the few characters who doesn't have either of those. Yeah, reflex for Kasumi Alpha, my bad ! I edited it so all clean !

I Am The Shadow... The True Self... [General Discussion]

You're correct for the most part, but if almost every move is - block in DoA, most of them don"t go beyond -6 or -7, (except lows and specific mid-string moves most of the time) meaning you can only be neutral thrown (this one is techable). What gives Phase 4 this extra layer of unsafeness is...

    Characters Eliot in DOA6(U,AE)

I agree with most of that, but if Eliot wants to be a true pressure character, his strings in themselves would need to be modified. As of now he is the only pressure character with whom you get more risk than reward when using pressure, as you can easily step, guard, or crush everything he does...
