The VF5FS within Yakuza 6 only has arcade mode and local two player with the full roster. It's probably based off the same JPN version, which means no online play.
Yakuza is an amazing series. Lots of great attention to detail, awesome storyline and characters. The arcade games featured are a fantastic bonus really.
as much as i like vf, i have a hard time seeing it make it in todays market, it's not accessible or flashy enough for modern audiences, or maybe segamam2 will pick up on that the next vf will have anime supers and 1 button autocombos that do 50%
If a VF6 could have the VF's looking like how Akira, Pai, Sarah and Jacky look in DOA5LR at least, then I think it could catch some attention. But yes, the audio and visual appeal will have to be updated a lot. The game doesn't exactly need supers or autocombos, though it could benefit from added visual appeal on big hits or CH's (ala Tekken 7) or on a KO hit.
With some tweaking a VF6 could reach similar visual flair to a DOA5LR, Tekken 7 or SC6 without having to dumb down the mechanics. If a player understands how 3D fighters work, VF is manageable to learn.
I’ll hope they make the VF like the DOA characters in the next installment. They look way better in this game. I will wonder how Goh would look like and fight like in DOA.
Call me crazy, but I like the vf5fs aesthetic, yeah it's dry as hell, but there's beauty in how simple and bare bones it is. Plz no ridiculous hit sparks and over the top visuals in vf6, save that for fighting vipers 3
I think what Radiance means is that VF has very minimal casual appeal, which would need to be improved upon in a hypothetical sequel. DOA, Tekken & SC all have a crap ton more casual appeal in comparison.
Exactly, VF is purely a competitive game. It never had anything in it for casual appeal. No story mode/lore, no library or art gallery. VF5FS did have a very good customization mode that I loved but that was about it for casuals. All it had was arcade, training, tutorial (which was one of the best tutorials ever), and your regular time attack and survival modes.
The game does have a story, but it's not in the game. If they added more casual appeal then more people will be inclined to invest time into the series and the player base will expand. This was always the issue with VF. I don't think they need to dumb down the mechanics. A lot of devs are doing this now and it's not making any difference in terms of who's in top 8 tournaments lol
You know it's weird when they explain Akira's background more in Dengeki Bunko than his own game lol. Even a Pachinko machine for VF was showing cutscenes and events that was never shown in the main series despite the scenes being true.
that and vf has never been terribly successful in the west, so even if they did make a vf6 the only ppl here who'd buy it are the guys on VFDC and a few DOA folks looking for a 3D fighter alternative that's not from namco
