I didn't actually say this, this was something an old buddy of mine used to preach back in the day. he was one of those guys who was good at every fighting game he played, almost to an autistic level. and when i'd ask how he'd get so good one thing he kept saying was when he played fighting games, he didn't see character models, flashy effects, or anything like that, he just saw hitboxes and hurtboxes

and his goal was to control not only his characters hitbox, but the opponents as well by putting well placed attack hitboxes on the screen and maintaining optimal positioning . I didn't get what he was talking about back then, but now when im playing alot more fighting game than i used to, i now can see how thinking like this can help make jumping from game to game easier

ranges and turns. gimme visual representations of the hitboxes (for range reasons) and frame advantage (for turn-taking reasons) and most games will become the same .*kappa*
