Wow... People really hate that mechanic with a passion.

Even though its spamable, it can be easily be avoided or stopped completely when using a break attack for a lethal hit. The tutorial actually helped me understand the mechanic more.

So, best-case scenario you ignore the mini-game completely, and worst-case scenario you play a dumbass guessing game that nobody likes?

Sounds like shit game design. Bandai is dumb, not that we needed SCVI to tell us that.

My soul does not burn but has a burning passion to see bamco go down. Intoxicating 3D games with 2D bs to please the esports crow with flashy rng mechanics (y), 2D guests and low budget games while acting like some triple a company lol. The marketing was the best: "Buy our game pl0x or it will be the last sc ;-;"

I myself was upset about reversal edge in SC6, but that was during the beta when we all went in blind and didn't know how to beat it. Now that the game and we have training mode and can lab it, there's really no need to be upset about it anymore, it's annoying at first glance, but it's very beatable

It's a super linear attack that has a lot of start up so you can sidewalk out of it on reaction with ease, it loses to break attack so go to training mode and find which moves can break, you can GI it and the great thing about that you can counterpoke with strings that have auto gi at the end of them, this way this forces them to do their reversal edge right into your GI, then voila, the advantage goes back to you

And if you do get hit with it and are forced to guess, it's actually not that annoying once you know what your options are and what beats what, it operates on a triangle system but with a few bells and whitsles since you can block and evade during the guessing game portion, takes sum time to remember what each option does but once that s done it just a matter of reading 2 steps ahead of your opponent, like ya do

Also strings with small gaps that normally don't combo work wonders on reversal edge happy players, if they just tap reversal edge, they get counterhit by the follow up,if they hold reversal edge you can have them absorb the hits and then just sidewalk to safety when you recover, provided your string ender doesn't have too much recovery

I love how people automatically assume that if I don't like a mechanic it must be because I don't understand it or don't know how to get around it.
I understand how it works. That's how I know it's stupid.

Yeah, as soon as I checked out Reversal Edge offline, it's crazy how beatable it is, though it doesn't change the fact that it's a dumb mechanic that feels like it disturbs a match's pace every time it connects. Has nothing to do with the "guessing game" or anything. It's just a nuisance. Compared to DOA's triangle system, Reversal Edge is like a brain infection.

They are both brain dead functions, that includes a guess for your life and you can throw out when you feel like it.

I'd liken it more to focus attacks from sf4 than the holds from doa, at least in doa u have to make a high/mid p or mid k/low read to make it successful, RE and FA are more of a "I don't know what's going on so I'm gonna press this button to get out of this situation" button
