you need to factor in playstyle into this equation as well, because you can have a character with the sickest looking moves partnered with great audio design and they look cool as shit, but if they're optimal playstyle is, for example, staying fullscreen while throwing fireballs, good luck generating hype with that kind of character

thats how you end with scenarios like Superman players getting boo'ed on stage at evo, or Fulgore/Kan Ra players getting boo'ed at evo, or Bayonetta players getting boo'ed at evo. so i guess the formula is looking cool + sounding cool + hype play style = hype, that's why every1 gets hype for DBZF

@Camel with 2 thumbs Also have to add in the factors of rooting for the underdog who's about to defeat the player that's been on the spree within the events for chants. Playstyle definitely is one, however an additional playstyle wouldn't mean much of anything (to a degree) if the character on screen doesn't provide the -oomph- behind it, as well as the type of work the player has to do for it.

As for the general base that kinda depends. All those characters you mentioned don't seem to have huge sorts of heavy impact when I checked (except maybe Fulgore I guess), Bayonetta on the other hand is debatable seeing as the character has a fandom implemented than a generated hype of impacts from stuff put in. Most of it is usually on the ends of "yaas girl".
