Not many... how much does the average JRPG sell now? Enough for the devs to make another one in the same crap quality.

I'm trying to remember the last jrpg in recent memory I played that had a good story. Moon's story was kinda good and surprisingly dark but other than that uhhh

Moon doesn't count.. Pokemon is its own genre.

Xenoblade is the only recent title whose story I feel stands up to the golden age of JRPGs.

Isn't VII the super overrated one?..

They are horse shit because they have better gameplay now.

Everybody knows the quality of a RPGs Story is inversely proportional to its gameplay.

In all honestly i never actually played ff7 (didn't own a playstation growing up), and every attempt to get into a ff game for the past couple of year have all been duds (i did like ff worlds though, mainly cause its so different from other ff games)

but ppl do like to praise the ff7 story as one of the best, so i guess we'll see with this re-release, fingers crossed

Agreed. JRPG's are terrible nowadays. There are a lot of people who also think JRPG's are really terrible now. As long as they get their pay they don't care about good story or gameplay. Have hope in FF15 tho.

I have a question for you all. What JRPGs did you enjoy in the PS3, 360 and Wii generation?

I remember liking Star Ocean 4. I'm suddenly drawing a blank on all the jrpg's I've played lol

Most of the Tales games. Graces and Dawn of the New World less so than the others, but I really liked Vesperia and Xillia 1 & 2. Eternal Sonata was pretty good too, though it's one of the few games where I had to play with Japanese voices because I really disliked the dub.

The Tales games are a big no no to me. Maybe it's just me but the characters come off as boring... and Eternal Sonata... I don't know if it was the art style or what... it looked disturbing.

And VII is not overrated... it's highly underrated and everyone knows it.

Persona, Hyperdimension Neptunia, The Last Story, Lost Odyssey, Tales of Vesperia, and Xenoblade Chronicles are nothing to feel sorry about.

I guess we find it jarring simply because previous gens were brimming with excellent JRPGs.

Eternal Sonata and Lost Odyssey were good too. I do like the Neptunia games' stories with how it all represents the gaming industry's history, especially HDN Victory

I played Lost Odyssey -- don't remember it being that fun... and didn't it run on the Unreal 3 engine? Eek....
