makes sense. they needed to take a step back from the series and look at what they did wrong. Nioh is a good opportunity for them try new things and see what people like in an action adventure.

I'm sure we'll get NG4 depending on how well Ni-Oh sells.

another hayashi directed NG game? i don't think my heart could take it, didn't really like the sigma games, and ng3 was just baaaaaad, maybe if tecmo koei gives ng4 to another studio, maybe Valhalla studios just for laughs, but then again after devils third maybe keeping it away from itagaki is a good idea

actually that games'problem mostly weren't itagaki fault, i think...

Itagaki had only one good ninja gaiden, and it was black. I trust Fumihiko Yasuda (director of the Razor's Edge version of NG3 and director of NiOH) more than i would ever trust Itagaki.

@Sotherius aww, your not a fan of the broken mess that was NG2? i actaully hated NG2 when i first picked it up; cried about how broken and unfinished it was, then after NG3 and i was like "you know, maybe NG2 wasn't THAT horrible", so ill give ng3 credit, it made me go back and actually enjoy vanilla ng2

Are you talking about RE or vanilla NG3? I played NG3RE first, and i had really good expectations about NG2 and Black, because NG3RE was "the worst one and NG2 is the best", i finished NG2 on master ninja, and while it is a pretty good action game, is my least favorite NG so far.

NG2 suffers from poor balancing and sadism from itagaki, with the IS spam (that is easily counterable, but still annoying and remove some freedom), bad performance in general, shitty enemies like the rasetsus or arrow ninjas, 90% terrible bosses.
Sotherius
Sotherius
While NG3RE suffers from having half of its enemy roster being terrible and the other half ok and the nerfing on GTs and FS. But it has better bosses than ng2, a more diverse moveset to work with, a better performance, and adds cool new systems as well.

RE has worse enemy design, worse fight encounter designs, worse music, flat visuals, terrible level designs, awful weapon movesets, a bafflingly stupid "hurt mode" camera, and a dodge they never bothered to polish.

Structurally, the game is the best in the franchise. But that hardly matters when the game itself is crap.
Sotherius
Sotherius
Worse enemy design? I would say it divides that place with NG2, music is a real problem, so are the visuals, the weapon movesets are the best in the series, and the dodge is more responsible, fluid, covers more ground and is more useful than the NG2 dodge, so i don't know what you want polish here.

But there is absolutely not a single enemy in NG3RE that is as bad as the rasetsus, or the fiend IS ninjas, or Dagra-dai, not even the chimeras that are absolutely terrible.

Anything that requires me to use the bow is by default worse than anything which does not require me to use the bow, so helicopters are worse than all of those. The dodge is not more responsive than it's ever been, and really won't be so long as they want it to be a soft attack move due to the way that NG's targeting works (that camera...)
Brute
Brute
The weapons have far too much excess clutter in their movesets, attempting to cater to the "hardcore combo" crowd that I despise so much. I don't need separate moves for "while landing," for example. Even if you wanted to argue that the enemy designs are on par with NG2 from a gameplay perspective (which I wouldn't), their visual designs are absolutely atrocious all-around, so it's not "cool" to face them.

Helicopters are not worse, because the bow actually works well enough in ng3re, and you have the ability to slow time while aiming and kill the default helicopters in 3 shots. You know what is atrocious though? Water battles, dual dragon-fiend boss, staircase of bad framerate, and so on. You say you don't need separate moves for "while landing" while "on landing" moves and UTs are a thing since Ninja Gaiden Black.

When I play a hack n' slash, I want to hack and slash. Bows are stupid. This is actually a recurring issue in all the games, where they continue to include little mini-game parts, all of which are awful. You mentioned water segments already, but kunai climb, archery, "stealth," ghost fish and QTEs are all other examples of this annoyance.

Dual Dragon fiends could be cheesed pretty easily with ninpo. I'd take the laggy staircase over the bloom-plagued helicopter boss from Day 2.

"On landing" was not a thing in Black, or if it was it was so subtle I never literally never noticed the difference in my countless playthroughs of that game. UTs have been terrible since their inception.

late reply but i was actually talking about NG3 vanilla, I think NG3RE is better, but only cause it nicked parts of its gameplay from what i consider a better game. I mean if gonna play a ng game with ultra violence, decapitation and obliteration techniques, im probably just gonna play NG2
