iirc, the English versions of the NES games changed his name to Ken in an attempt to cash in on the popularity of Street Fighter.

@Mama In the NES ninja gaidens, it was translated to Ken Hayabusa for some reason, in the NG2 and NGS2 translations, was to Joe Hayabusa, i believe the original Japanese always was "Jo Hayabusa", and also what appears in ng3.
