Compared to DOA2 Tengu, he's nowhere near as good or ban-worthy.
For example, 7kp no longer kept him a safe distance on hit or on block. If the opponent blocks it completely, it can be punished with a low throw. His overall damage output has also been significantly reduced.
Not to shit tier, more about where Nyo is since shes imo what he should've been in terms of gameplay. She's about the middle ground where 2U bankotsubo was a bit too much, I would expect the same to Genra too if he were ever added
"Newer game = better game" is an incredibly flawed logic. People shouldn't stop playing a good game just because a newer one came out.
Not only that, but more often than not, the newest game in a franchise is inferior to one or more previous installments. Franchises usually get worse as they go on, not better. This is true for all forms of media too, not just video games.
Neutral between DOA2U and DOA5LR at the moment for mechanics reason. However I do feel LR was miles better than 4. 4 had some good stages with the exception of Experimental Playground.
@Forlorn Penguin I still play older games but in DOA's cases some previous ones just weren't balanced with some areas. Like Tekken 4 is the black sheep of the tekken series because of how broken Steve and jin were in that game. Plus characters meant to be boss characters are usually controversial when they are made playable, like in Dimensions
Every game besides DOA4 were good or standard games for the most part in my opinion. Can't speak for DOA Dimensions since I don't have nor owned portables, yet I have the game still in the plastic for winning it off a site. I might emulate it one of these days with Citra if I get the chance.
