Taxman and Stealth were the developers responsible for the excellent mobile remakes of Sonic 1, Sonic 2, and Sonic CD.

oh, i didn't know that... I was just thinking about the hype on sonic mania (well deserved), but people seem to forget how cool advance 2 was, or maybe they don't know, how insane and fast a sonic game can be.

played the advance series, just made me want to play the older games again. actually could say the same for the rush series, sonic 4 episodes, the classics are hard to beat, let's see if mania can make me eat my words

Never got to play Advance 2 or 3, but I loved the hell out of the first one.

Advance 2 is very different from the other two Advance games, as it focused very heavily on speed. You could say it translates to how the daytime stages in Unleashed would've worked if it was in 2D, with little focus on exploration.
Advance 3 dials back to the more exploratory style of gameplay like Sonic CD.
