combat just feels like low rent bayonetta so why would i bother with the inferior gameplay when i can get my jollies playing it's predecessor that did it way better? apparently nier's much more about the story, the world, the characters, and the meta narrative fuckaboutery, but none of those are really selling points to me
@Cr!msonWarrior and yes i am actually playing bayo 2 right now, started a fresh file and working my way back to 100% completion. bayo 1 and 2 hold a special place for me the same way Ninja gaiden 1 and 2 do, well crafted hack and slashers that i can play anytime, they're just too good!
DmC was okay, but that was kinda it's problem. It was an average game from a legacy that prided itself on being over the top and crazy. I don't even care for old devil may cry but I appreciate them on that level at least
It's the tomb raider reboot all over again. "Let's take an iconic franchise and transform it into homogeneous slop to appeal to the lowest common denominator, no way this can go wrong!"
Nier Automata isn't entirely a beat 'em up like Bayonetta is and is mainly a semi-open world action RPG (hence why it got nominated for Best RPG this year). Bayonetta is a straight-up Hack n' Slash Beat 'em Up. Seriously though dude, give NieR a try.
While Nier Automata's combat does not even come close to the awesomeness of bayonetta 1, it does have some unique mechanics that bayonetta as a series lack, pretty small stuff, but one can find enjoyment in it if you're into digging mechanics.
