The fix would be less leniency, but in this new age of "let's make fighting games for every1", it's unlikely. Plus this has been a thing since 2009, ppl have gotten used to it and it's just part of the meta now
If it were about making them more accessible, they would just change the Super input entirely. Ex: you have one punch button instead of three, and the move changes depending on directional input. Now you have four free buttons to assign to Supers, Ex moves, V-skill and V-Trigger.
But that's far too logical for a 2D fighter dev. to fathom. So instead they bumble about arbitrarily with no fucking clue what they're doing and retain their audience thanks solely to brand loyalty.
Getting rid of 4 buttons might be too much. I don't mind having 6 buttons to work with , they just need to be smart with how they implement them when it comes to this type of stuff.
I'd prefer if capcom did 1 of 2 things, go to examu fighter route and make super inputs dedicated to 2 very specific buttons so it's impossible to get super by accident
Or go the arc system, snk fighter route and make supers a motion that s highly unlikely that you'll mash out (half circle backward qrt circle foward motion comes to mind)
Under my proposed system you would still be working with six buttons. They would simply be intelligently mapped rather than deliberately separated to give an artificial illusion of depth. When my "heavy punch" button is dedicated solely to kicks, it's a pretty good indication that you fucked up your control scheme.
I actually made Brute's Suggestion in the KI Forums about a week ago.
You could just reduce the number of Buttons needed by Normals and make them command Normals.... this is essentially what NRS Games do...
Then you have more room for Specials and Other Macros.
so something similar to smash were you have 2 attack buttons but due to tilts, smashes, and aerials, your 2 attack buttons give you a plethora of offensive options, and the rest of the buttons are for stuff like garuding, throwing, etc. well, smash made it work, games inspired by smash make it work, so yeah, not a bad idea
I wish Capcom would just grow a spine and fix it themselves.
