    DOA5LR Ayane General Gameplay Discussion

From what I've gathered by playing, it seems that 5H+K is the move you use on reaction to whiff punish at a distance, whereas 3H+K is more of a general approaching tool. If I wanted to just throw something out at that range without really thinking about it, I'd use 3H+K.

    DOA5LR Ayane General Gameplay Discussion

Hmkay. I'll have to remember to try 3K+H. It was beating low jabs clean, though again maybe they were just mashing low jab from out of range. I was using it from basically max range. Thanks for the info, appreciate it.

    DOA5LR Ayane General Gameplay Discussion

I'm doing it with 6, but okay. I'm talking about the half circular kick that looks like it might hit mid (or EX mid if that exists in this game) and launches on CH.

What's your guys' take on spacing with 6K+H? I'm eating people alive with it in the arcades, but I don't know how legit it actually is. It does seem to beat a lot of lows, but perhaps my opponents just aren't spacing things right.

System Bad habit or good strategy?: The “no mix-up” mix-up

6PP *wait * -> see hold -> Hi counter throw. This is seriously 50% of how I beat people.

System Bad habit or good strategy?: The “no mix-up” mix-up

I get what this post is saying, but I feel like the author tripped over the semantics of it. All you had to say was that sometimes, the obvious answer is the best one, and conditioning your opponent allows you to go for things that they would normally be aware of and react to. Your example...

    DOA5LR You're Mashy

Anyone who complaints about mashing in this game is clearly looking for something DOA doesn't offer. The whole point of the game is to be greedy as fuck, you just have to be smart about it. Playing DOA turns me into a monster; a mashing, disrespectful piece of shit. And that's what I love...

    Arcade locations in NorCal

I don't live in Norcal anymore, but I am from the area and know a lot of the Arcsys players.

    Arcade locations in NorCal

Milpitas Golfland supposedly has a few DOA players. There's also Gamecenter Mk 2, though that's mostly Arcsys games. I don't know of any others, offhand. Try asking on SRK.

    Competitive balance: DOA5U mechanics changes

My main issue with DOA5U was that while the triangle game is probably the best DOA has ever had, there is little else to the game, honestly. Yes there is poking, but it's usually used as a way to set up stun, which to me kind of defeats the purpose. I would like it if pokes didn't force stun at...

    The Fight Stick Thread

He said he wanted a cheap stick, which to me is kind of a red flag since no cheap stick is worth its salt out of the box. If worst comes to worst, you can get that multi-console Mayflash stick and put better parts in it, but again, I don't know what your budget is like.

For what console(s)? As a fair word of warning, you generally get what you pay for with sticks.

System What I Feel Could Solidfy DOA's Position as a Competitive Fighter.

VF already has something similar with DM and OM, no reason why DOA couldn't implement something like it.

Casual/Non frame data changes I hope they make for DOA6

Sweeps have hit people out of the air since SF2. Unless we're talking low sweeps on wakeup (where there is little more than a basic high/low game anyways), I don't see what the issue is...

    The Official NorCal Thread

Understandable. I just figured I'd offer since it seems pretty dead in here. In any case, if something does pop up, or if you guys just wanna play at some point, hit me up in February.

I believe it's in San Carlos. It's not too hard to get to, as I remember, though I've only been to the new location once.

That sounds about right, too. :P People who aren't from here tend to underestimate just how spread out the Bay Area (nevermind the whole Sacramento area) is. Gamecenter's new location is a private venue, but the owner is always down to have more people come and use the place. I can speak with...

    The Fight Stick Thread

I understand a man has to eat, but that is a little steep, especially considering he is probably using a MCC or PS360 for previous gen compatibility. Now if you were to get other things about the stick modded (some extra weight, or a reinforced panel, for example), then I could see shelling out...

    The Fight Stick Thread

^ Pretty much. If that PCB is common ground then a PS3 padhack may be possible, otherwise you should probably get a multi-console PCB somewhere down the line. If you're talking buttons/sticks, then that's stuff you can usually replace on your own even with little to no experience.

^ Sounds about right. I'm coming back home for a bit next month. I know the anime scene in Norcal very well as well as the few VF heads, but have no prior experience playing DOA here. It sounds like you guys don't really have a regular meetup spot, which is unfortunate, but I'm willing to bet...
