Concept arts and unplayable costumes

Has it ever crossed your mind that they tend to look way better than the costumes being offered and just wish that it could have been better if it looked exactly this way or even become playable?

I guess this isn't technically a "costume" but giving Kasumi blonde hair on the cover of the PSX version drove me nuts when I was a little kid b/c I couldn't figure out if it was Kasumi or if it was a secret character. Does anyone know the reason why they did this? Someone please humor me... ha ha

Maybe they wanted Kasumi to be the first blonde female on the roster before Tina despite not having a single costume with blonde hair in all her 14 costumes in the game.

Honestly, I almost thought she was granny-ish on that cover. Glad I bought the one with "eyes" cover instead.

Also here's some Ayane concept art. Crazy how different she could have looked:

Looks more like a gender-bent Hayabusa because of the stern look and long hair lol.

It's surprising how the costume on the far upper right ended up on Tina for DOA4/DOAD. They should really look back at their concept arts. They really have a lot of great stuff designed.

So a recent discussion on a terrible Facebook group made me whip out my old Famitsu Xbox magazines and look through them for something regarding one of Kasumi's outfits. I thought it was a fan design but I had confused two different articles from two different issues. The below outfit for Kasumi was indeed a Team Ninja design that never made it into one of the older games.

What I was thinking of was this section from the February '06 issue of Famitsu Xbox 360, where they show off three outfits by fans that did actually make it into the game as well where some other notable fan submissions are published:

I was really, really anticipating DOA4 so much that I was frequenting a local Japanese bookstore for these issues. Occasionally, someone would snag a month before me so I am missing a few spots unfortunately but c'est la vie.
they should really let fans submit costume ideas and get the community involved like the make your move contest
