Does the online pass link to gamertag or console?

I'm at my my college dorm, and there's an xbox but I don't want to link the online pass to it, if I won't be able to play back when I get home. Does it link to the gamertag or console?

It's definitely linked to your account. You just have to re-download the pass from the marketplace once you're home.
