Haters

So I was watching a couple of Twitch TV streams and there seems to be a lot of hate out there for DoA. I'm kinda new to the DoA scene, so...is this normal? I know there's a certain amount of hate any new game gets, but it seemed pretty vicious :p

People hate what they dont know and the same goes for VF at times. There also scared of change and want to stay in there little box playing a game they understand instead of learning a new one. You know if those same haters put in the time to really learn the mechanics in a VF or DOA game they just migh like it more than the current games there playing.

People will complain and say oh thats the boobie masher game however if you try to just mash against me thats suicide. People complain about how boring VF looks when being played and the lack of over the top personality of the characters/storyline. Guess what i could careless and you really start appreciating watching these games once you learn how to play them.

Thats like me saying SFIV is a straight up turtle fest or TEKKEN games are just all about juggling. It make no sense to make comments about the gameplay or game in general if youve never taken the actual time to learn how to play those games.

I dunno, but I can tell you that this is by far one of the best fighting experience I have had in a long time. I'm 32 and used to play arcade tournaments back in the day and can tell you that most the other fighters are bland remakes of old 90s 2d games. The magic is gone for all those titles. DoA still has its magic.

I think alot of it has to do with the way things are evolving with games. It seems every game now is super hyped when it's in production, rabidly chastised when it's finally out, and finally settles into being a decent game after all the release hype finally fades.

I mean cmon, look at diablo 3 :p

DOA is my favorite 3D fighting franchise, and quite possibly my favorite fighter in general (only being second to the MVC franchise). It's seriously underrated and people disregard its existence far too often. Who gives a shit if it has a lot of sexual themes? I haven't seen anyone complain about Ivy or Sophitia's costumes in the Soul Calibur series.

I think the problem is that these idiots stuck on SF and whatnot, just aren't willing to go outside of their comfort zone. DOA is unlike any fighting experience out there which might make it not very accesible to someone who's used the 2D realm (which in my opinion, is often much easier to master than 3D fighters).

It really boils down to what people prefer, Chevy vs. Ford, Apple vs. Microsoft, and Budwiser vs. Miller, and so on and so on. The obivious fanboy-ism each and every single fighter carries is really old and people need to get over it and just enjoy the game they play no matter what someone else thinks.

I got into fighting games right on the tail end of Arcades :p I barely got a taste before the well went dry. All that was left was DDR lol.

I think DOA gets so much hate because of its fighting system. DOA5 is a very fast game that favors offense. Couple that with buttons mashers and big tited ninjas and people think the game is all about flash and has no substance. The fighting game community in general is very small and most of the (serious) fighting gamers are capcom fanboys. Like THC said if more people took the time to learn the game there would be less hate for DOA or any fighting game in that respect.

It seems like 2d fighters gets more love than 3d fighters I could be wrong. Ugh shit, I getting sick of tire hearing
" DOA is garbage its about sex, porn & tits that's it, and maaan the counter system is too fucking easy...etc" dumbass haters who played DOA4 bitching about the counter hold need to try out DOA5 because it plays NOTHING like DOA4. TN had fix the bullshit
mechanics that was from DOA4 & turn DOA5 into a serious competitive fighting game. The button/counter mashing doesn't work in DOA5.

People tend to have a bias towards 2D fighters because that's what they're used to, basically. They aren't gonna stray from the games they've known for almost decades (Street Fighter, MVC, KOF, ect). When people use the argument "DOA is all about boobs and sex appeal", it's like they totally forget that Mortal Kombat is just the same way with violence, AND sex appeal as a matter of fact. Violence is the main selling point of the MK franchise, not its super deep dial-a-combo system that anyone can get a grip on within a few hours.

It's really just an issue of ignorance, is all. That, and biased, misdirected hatred for anything 3D.

main arguments I have heard....

"DOA is all T&A."
"Ninjas ARE TOP TIER!!!"
"COUNTERS ARE SO EASY!!!"

And shit like that. Even though I tell them the ninjas aren't that good this time.

ALL DOA6 DOA5 DOA4 DOA3 DOA2U DOAD
