I imagine the "Moves" relate to natural combos, evasion, and mix-up potential? Ayane and Christie for example have a 5, where Hitomi and Bayman have a 3.

Haha, "Loligagger".

So Christie's movement's THAT good, eh? She must get around in this installment.

man do Christie's holds and throws suck.
No surprise there.

I'm not sure where I read it, but I believe Team Ninja said that "Moves" meant that character has extremely high mix-up potential and that players can or will get easily confused by their high amount of craziness basically. Something along those lines...

yeah I remember reading that as well, it was in one of Shimbori's tweets.

I don't really get what "power" stands for. Can't be damage, because Christie has three bars and Leifang one.

Yeah, I don't get the impression that these are at all representative of actual character strengths.

Bayman only has a 3 in throws? And Hayabusa has the same speed as Bayman and Tina? You learn something new everyday...

Why wouldn't they be?
TN said they're making characters more individualized now, adding stats in just for kicks would be pointless.
Besides, with the gameplay footage we've seen from E3 you can tell that these stats have been implemented when each character was being revamped for DOA5.
Actually, this would make a good question for Dr.Dogg and Rikuto.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Strike, Throw and Hold ratings tell us how good each character is at the different points of the triangle system. We haven't been told exactly what this entails yet though, but we can probably guess.
Power rates the damage of attacks and Speed rates a character's movement and attacking speed.
The Moves category has pretty much already been explained, it pertains to things along the lines of evasion and mixup game. Pretty much things like stances, sabaki and moves that have dodge-like properties upon execution (think Kokoro's :2::F+K:).

Tina has the same power as Bayman? DAMN! She could really do some damage.

Rikuto

P-P-P-P-P-P-POWER!

Well, let me put it this way.

Bayman has a 2 for strikes, but I was getting out 50% lifebar combos in open space with only one opportunity to counter in stun.

Sure, he's still slow... but speed is a different bar.

So how would you interpret that?

Because developers don't dictate how characters play once people have the game.

These ratings are as silly as power ratings on comic book cards.

Yes, Awesmic.
That doesn't add up though.

If the ratings aren't accurate, then why was it mentioned that Christie's "Moves" rating is high, and it's backed up by the E3 players insisting her DF sidestep is a lot more evasive than a normal sidestep in this installment? Why does Christie's "Speed" rating add up with not only her 9-frame jabs, but the improved speed of her :4::P+K: guard break? Not to mention, she no longer needs a stance-specific move to gain a NH launcher. The "Strike" rating is a given.

With these in mind, it would have to balance out with her having weaker throws and holds... neither of which Christie actually excelled in, for as long as I played her.

Because the tier list is not determined by these categories. In theory, a character could have a 5/5 in all of these categories and still be bottom tier.

Simple.
His Power stat is a 4. Even if his Striking is a 2, he still hits like a tank because of his damage output.
That's my interpretation, anyway.

I'm going to assume some people may have misinterpreted my meaning in regards to supporting these stats.
I know that it'll come down to the player, but a smart player uses a character based on their strengths; regardless of the tactics that they use to do so. You're not going to pick Bass so that you can throw out strikes all day, you'll use his grapples since that's where he excels.
I'm not saying that they define the character so that we can flat out say "X" is better than "Y" because of their stats. I simply mean that now we see the characters with more defined strengths and weaknesses so that as players we can get an idea of what a character has to offer gameplaywise.
Of course, we already know which characters can do what, but for new players this can help them pick a main based on how they want to play.

I just think it's a cool little addition to a character's individuality.

Personally I agree with your interpretation, I think that in this way the data makes sense - at least on the paper -
