But in DOA2 Ein was Hayate brainwashed
and in ammnesia. Maybe now he is a seperate clone but still

Axel feels exactly like I am feeling or Russian chiropractic, that it is just a coincidence. These new DLC costumes were very likely already in the planning, maybe even ready, when the costume contest was running. Team Ninja also gave everyone (not just Marie Rose) a denim overall plus something character specific, to not be too generic/lazy. Stockings or ringed stockings are very common in lolita fashion. That was probably the first character specific addition TN could think of regarding MR.
Apart from the stockings and suspenders Axel's outfit and this DLC outfit have actually not much in common.

Yep your reasoning makes sense. I didn't think it may have been planned ahead of the contest. Hope the entry is still possibly DLC - I liked it ^_^.

I hope so too, because Axel's design was out of the ordinary. It was very Marie Rose yet still different, interesting and very recognizable.
I think, each of the about 400 entries of the contest could get picked by Team Ninja to be DLC. I don't think, the top 10 have much higher chances then the others. But let's see. Maybe they don't pick any costume at all, or they really just take some inspirations here and there but do their own designs in the end.

I always wondered something. If Team Ninja does use the designs from the contest in game, how does royalties work? Did the designers sign their rights away from their designs to Team Ninja?

Yes anyone who entered the contest agreed to forfeit their rights entirely to TN.

Yeah Orchid is a very badass woman. Sadira is also pretty badass. Hope Kim Wu and Maya are just as much when they are added as well

But at this point, look at how much more money they get with female DLC especially when you can buy the "discount" pack which includes the character and 5 overpriced DLC ouftis for 2 less dollars. :/ And it seems like the majority of players don't care if the rest of the new characters are all women anyway...
