Game balance is a joke

It's literally pick a fast striker or get demolished online. There is no middle ground at all because even if you properly set up to punish with say Elliot or even Bayman, the hold system gets in the way because your attack can be seen a mile away. The game clearly favors fast strikers because they are far far less likely to be caught in holds.

I kind of disagree. Striker characters IMO tend to get held more because they hit multiple times in the same hit level.

Its funny because in DOA3.1 the grapplers were the high/ top tiers and itagaki/TN said it was a mistake for them to be that powerful and stated "wrestlers shouldn't surpass ninjas" and pretty much nerfed all the grapplers to shit tier in DOA4. DOA5 fixed this with them now being mid to upper mid making the game far more balanced than the steaming pile of excrement that was DOA4. we still have cunts like christie to deal with but i'd take her over DOA4 Busa anyday

To be fair, 3.1 was the other side of balance: Where everything is balanced because everyone's got some stupid shit... except Brad Wong... poor, poor Brad Wong...

LoL.... I don't k know about you but My Tina can handle Pai Chan and Kasumi just fine.

Anyway incase you you didn't already know..... even in the best of circumstances.... DoA is always better to play offline than it is online so uhm yeah there are some character that just can't hack the pace when they go online....

Its not just DoA.....
I level this complaint at every fighting game.

So because they don't think one style should prevail over another. They make the one they didn't like weaker.

What great development philosophy. I don't know how anyone can argue this game is remotely balanced if this is how the developers balance dead or alive.

Well the man who developed the previous DoA games is no longer with Team Ninja so theres no need to worry. The philosophy has changed (to god knows what).

In this iteration of the game the grapplers are surely at a slight disadvantage but no so much as to become unviable......

The game is fine..... great even.....

Balance-wise the faster strikers could be toned down a little bit in terms of safety and string variety (namely Christie) but the game is balanced extremely well aside from a very small number of matchups (which are still viable as shown in many tournaments as of the past year or two).

With all the Helena vs Helena matchs in just Evo not including other tourneys and ect does it truly surprise you? lol

I'm not saying she should be nerfed but I wouldn't be surprised if she was once more.

Actually it does.... The Only Helena's I saw on stream at Evo were in Top 4 (MC Static and CrazySteady) . I didn't see any in Pools. Besides, she was never troublesome even before all the Nerfs. Jann Lee and Zack are the ones I'm more concerned about and not many people play those two.

I wrote the Breakdown of Zack's Ducking Stance...... the mix ups and the amount of disadvantage he can shave off it is ludicrous. Plus its a good High Crush...... and then there's the usual 11Frame Mid and 10 Frame Jab to worry about...... his pokes aren't bad either because of his freakishly long legs. But most importantly.... Zack has an uncanny ability of straight up beating Wake Ups Kicks. Its crazy, man.

Jann Lee..... well I just don't like losing to that Dragon Gunning Bastard..... he's got insane knockbacks on his attacks and his known problem cornering opponents.... except for the Ninjas obviously..... its nothing serious.... I just dislike him.

Not all fast strikers are ridiculously good though *cough* phase 4 and Alpha 152 *cough*

As for actual balance DOA5 is on of the most balanced out there compared to games like Tekken where you're literally fucked if you play low tier characters.
