Somebody? Anybody? Why does every game have to be "tier listed" instead of just making the warriors at least semi-equal?

If they cared about balance they wouldn't keep buffing the posterboy ninja and nerfing other characters.

It makes me wonder why Shimbori is even bothering to attend Season's Beatings.

I do wonder why gaming companies insist on doing shit work tbh. I miss the 90's when you would get games like Starcraft or Eve Online or Neverwinter Nights that lasted to this very day.

TIER LIST! TIER LIST!
Why can't all fighters just be Equal Opportunity?
What is the point, the reason? >.<

Because then it would be DoA4 where everyone played the same strategy and that game was garbage.

I don't mean same strategy, I mean relative game balance where everybody has a chance to win without having to struggle uphill.

It's just not possible, unfortunately. You can always try and you may even come close to total balance, but there will always be something that makes certain characters better than others.

When you say evasive tools are less evasive. Are you referring mainly to Hayate, and Christie, or did the side-step system in general get nerfed?

I'm pretty sure it is the former. I remember hearing from people that the SS system works well.
Sucks for Hayate and Christie.

Just wondering had DrDogg let TN know what he said in this thread?
if he did, why TN didn't listen? Did TN explan why they change DOA5 into this way to DrDogg?

Sorry for my bad English, it may bother your reading.

Although it would be nice Drdogg has very little say on what team ninja ultimately does. He is the writer for the English strategy guide. From the looks of things they valued the input from their balance staff and their own judgement more.

The ten people in Japan who claim to actually play this game also happen to disagree with us on nearly everything.

Guess who gets priority.

Anyway I intend to have a nice, long chat with Shimbori-san in the near future about some of this...

From my experience playing with japanese players they play to win, but their perspective on doing so is more based on more mental and technique style of play.Americans play to win by any means necessary within the confines of the game play. DOA as a whole wasn't meant to be a technical based fighting game. The game was based around Itagaki's love of women and gambling. But DOA also is a more mental based fighting game. In real life fight every move you make is a gamble and nothing is guaranteed. DOA is built on this premise.

I feel the DOA high level community needs to wait until the game comes out.And even if the game is not up to they're standards everyone should still support it. If the DOA community as a whole is not supporting the game then DOA will never get the respect it deserves. If DOA doesn't get supported by our on high level community than why should the competitive high level FGC care.

I can tell a few of you are the "glass is half empty" personality types. And since most of the ones spreading doom and gloom about the game mechanics are well respected players in the DOA community it makes it seem like all the DOA community as a whole is not hype about the game.

I feel that companies now are catering too much to the competitive players. Tournaments were created not around how the game is built. They are created because players love to play the game as is and like competing against others who feel the same way. DOA5 is a game first and foremost. And games are meant to entertain and have fun. So just support and play the game. Stop getting so caught up in how well it plays. Don't get me wrong those things are important. But even crappy ass busted unbalanced games like Marvel vs Capcom 2 still had a dedicated highly competitive tournament scene. Why? Because people just had fun and enjoyed playing the game.

MVC2 was not catered for high level play.Or designed to have a tourny scene built around it.Yet people still played the hell out of it. I feel the DOA community as a whole should wait until the game comes out, give it about 3 to 5 months so that play standards an be set, and then we can judge it for what it is.

Why the hell should I support a shitty fighter? If this game end up sucking, it doesn't deserve respect. It doesn't deserve to be supported. The developers reap what they sow. Those 10 JP players influencing the decisons are more important to Team Ninja than anybody on this site.

If the game ends up bad, it deserves to crash and burn in the competitive scene. The developers have had every opportunity to make the game better. Indeed, at e3, it looked like it was on that path. What we hear now is that all of these options are removed or nerfed. If I support the game and go to tournaments for a game I think is shitty, I'm only supporting Team Ninja's backward fighting game balance decisions and telling them I think it's okay.

Screw that noise.

Man, there's so much wrong with that post. Don't get caught up in how well it plays? That's THE ONLY THING anybody should care about. This site is for competitive players. If you don't care about that, you have a different outlook on the game than most people here, and you really shouldn't be telling anybody who cares about tournaments to support the game even if it doesn't turn out well.

All this hype about DOA5 being a great fighter, up until one freaking week left, now it sucks? Iol. picked up TTT2 just to hold me over till DOA5, but man I was not expecting TTT2 to be as good as it is. For those of you who's character got nerfed or whatever, I feel your pain, but I'm gonna be playing the game with a smile While you're being over analytical crying over sh** that you can find ways around, but won't cause you are too focused on bitching cause you couldn't haven't your way. If we're lucky, TN will do what they did with NG3, and just use this as a beta test for the WiiU version, and fix all the problems for that version.....:)
