Random - adj - Made, done, happening, or chosen without method or conscious decision

If it truly is random, both opponents would have to be face rolling their controllers. Discuss.
Once again Mr "I believe online players should brag about their wins because they mean something", let me make myself clear.

If you stun your opponent in DOA, you have to guess whether or not they will hold a certain attack.

Soooo um. This thread is called morons online. Look at the people and the quality of their posts... and it's on the internet...

Bravo OP... Well played.

After reading all this, I've come to a conclusion that Degalon's ideal, "non-boring" playstyle is to hold everything.

Metaphorically speaking, that's like ordering a pizza with the works and holding everything. You're depriving yourself of everything that makes the works the works, effectively missing out on opportunities to sink your teeth into that which makes the pizza delicious.

Back to the topic at hand, I hear MaxDrago was being quite the moron on stream last night. Can anyone verify this and what actually happened? I missed out, lol.

Without a goal in mind (like an attack that guarantees damage), the player on offense can choose attacks at random and keep stunning you. Especially when they don't follow what I mentioned earlier. Best thing the person on defense can do is hold and hope for the best.

You could argue that people not putting any thought into what they do are usually playing on auto pilot and patterns will show up, but there's always more chance for random choices when people refuse to go for guarantees.

Generally speaking, I'd say most DOA players don't put much thought behind what they do, and just do things.

It's not random like a coin flip, it's random like the weather.
We can take into account previous patterns and prior knowledge then make a prediction, and hope for the best.

I find that to be one of the more fun parts of the game... getting your opponent accustomed to a certain pattern then breaking that pattern, and making them pay for it.

*sweep*, *sweep*, uh uh not this time, *low grab for high damage*

He was talking about his love for Hitomi and how jealous he was about Angryworm being a fan of Hitomi. Nothin' new, really.

idc how he chooses to play, idc whether he thinks its the right way or not, i start caring when/if he tries to force his way upon other players who want to play their way because his way is "better" or "more skillful". i dont remember him directly pushing his way on others, but dont remember a time where he specifically "didn't".

Let me get this straight.

I say "i play this way and I like it because its more challenging and satisfying", and get flamed with "you are playing wrong, you have to do this instead", and you actually have the balls to say I'M forcing my way upon others?

Yeah, that still does nothing to say or prove that it is random lol.

For example, just a FEW things you can do.

If you are worried about being countered, just a) do a move that is out of the ordinary so its extremely unlikely they'll counter it because they have been caught completely off guard. Or b) Just grab em. Or C) Have payed enough attention to yours and the opponents moves during the match to recognize which counters they lean towards, what they'll expect you to do because of what attacks YOU lean towards, then just do something contradictory to that, like a move you would otherwise never incorporate into your attack patterns.

That is not random. You have options. There are ODDS, just like with literally any possible action you can take in any game, but its not random.

lmao someone should read more carefully and not be so defensive... When i say dont remember a time when he "didn't" i mean i dont recall you ever saying "you know you guys can play your way and ill play my way and the world will continue to function" and when you say something such as or way being "cheap" while yours is being "skillfull" is the equivalent of being a hipster, no1 will take you seriously, and no1 thinks your right.
read the previous post w/o your selective reading and maybe you'll understand im not "attacking" you, im stating an opinion.

Dude. Anything that has ODDS is random. Anything that does not have ODDS is GUARANTEED. Let me counter you point by point.

A. A move is still going to be either a high, mid punch, mid kick, or low at the end of the day. There's no such thing as doing a move that's unlikely to be countered in the stun game. In neutral or when pressure is being applied however I agree you can catch people of guard with things like punch grab or free cancel mixups.

B. Assuming that they will hold then yeah you can grab them. But what if they decide to stagger escape instead? even worse what if they decide to attack out of stun for whatever reason? Is that not being random? Any point where you have to make a guess it is because things are random and cannot be controlled. While its true you can make a educated guess (AKA reading your opponent or "Yomi" whatever you guys want to call it) its still a guess. Because at the end of the day you are saying I THINK my opponent will do X so I'm going to respond with Y not I KNOW my opponent will respond with X so I will respond with Y. There's no way for you to possibly know when I could have just as easily selected Z instead of X. As long as both players have multiple choices to select from without anything to limit those choices, everything is random.

C. I think my explanation for B covers this.

It's more challenging because it's harder to guess random stuff :p Just sayin'!
