I looked into what Cyberevil was saying about sharing games at tournaments - only one other person can be gaming while using the shared library.

So, going off the information. We have, a tournaments can be run a few ways.

Buy brand new copies of the game and install one on every other console and set up a profile on each.

Have 10 or 20 people show up with their own.personal consoles.

That last one sounds more likely because who knows how selling or renting an xbox one would even work?

Then on top of that you have to.go into each console and toggle Kinect off...if somehow a Kinect is broken or detached then the.console.doesn't work.

Are kinects built to only recognize one console? If so then how much of a hassle is it to sync a Kinect to a new console?

And with online check ins, what if xbox says you have to download an update to keep.playing? What if the updates stall the tournament?

There's a lot of questions and chief among them is...will the hardcore fighting game.community play the Fuckin game? Because I think that the same people who frequent tournaments are the same people who are keyed into this DRM fiasco.

What the fuck does "Input one" even mean?

I still think the name is crap. I was expecting Xbox 720.

It means what it says. The xbox one does everything on a single input. Instead of switching your TV's input to cable when you're done playing a game you just tell the system to switch to TV.

Actually the general population is pretty impressed with what MS showed. There were a few moments that even I rolled my eyes at, but overall I was quite happy with a lot of the games that were shown. Check Twitter for instance.

Just got back from preordering my Xbox One and a copy of Battlefield 4. They didn't have the SKU for Killer Instinct so I coudn't get that yet. And if you guys think it won't be played at tournaments because of the online thing, you're nuts. EVERYONE has a mobile hotspot on their phones now that you can use to authenticate the Xbox One at the end of the night with.

Let's not pretend we're living in 2007 still. And depending on how the family thing works, maybe there's a way to even only buy one copy of the game if the consoles are all rocking one profile. Think about it this way: buy the game on one Tournament Organizer profile, put said profile on several consoles for the tournament, authenticate them, then in between matches every hour or so connect one at a time to authenticate. That seems to me that it would work since you'd then take them all offline. I could be wrong but that seems like a plausible, favorable scenario for TO's money-wise.

Your optimism and pure fanboyism is hilarious. Sorry but no TO with half a brain will tolerate that, let alone risk the possibility of the system cutting the game off mid match. Having to authenticate every single system on an hourly basis would slow down the process of getting matches done. For fucks sake, it takes an entire weekend already to get tournaments over with that have large turnouts. There is no fucking way a TO will deal with that shit. You'd have to be fucking stupid to do so.

You missed the part about taking the Xbox consoles offline. If they're all offline they can play the same game because nothing is telling the servers that the games aren't legit. You then just need to sign in to do the check in every hour which can easily be done between matches.

Either way, doing it completely traditionally just means TOs have one console and game per station. Since they only need to check in every 24 hours if they aren't sharing games, somebody just connects at the end of the night. Not terribly difficult.

...and another added to my ignore list.

Go read ign, they mentioned that only two people can share at any given time - all they really have to do is lock the library after the first two family.members do the initial Check.

Lot of hassle for a game that died out competitively almost a decade and a half ago.

Also, ask yourself where most of these extra game copies come from. If you can rent, buy used or share easily then it's possibly more expensive and definitely more work.

Why not just run something else on PS3 instead?

I hate reading IGN so I'll just take your word on it. The traditional route doesn't really inconvenience anyone all that much. If I was running a tournament on Xbox One, I'd use my phone's hotspot to authenticate each console late at night before the tournament opens and then just do it at the close of the tournament each day again. Not terribly difficult to do and TOs have a game for each console with all current games anyway.

But why do all that work when you can just not run it?

That's the question every organizer is going to ask - why run it at all? And unless it's a really, really popular title I couldn't see too.many people signing up for the extra equipment and extra work.

Ransuu was being a little sensational about the system cutting off mid match but what if each console has a mandatory update?

You.might only have to check in every 24 Hours but who's to say that you won't be forced to sit through a title update to play? It's all about anti piracy right?

Couple more bits of Data running up your phone bill.

I'm hopeful they right the ship, because I'd hate to have to tell people why they shouldn't buy it.

Killer Instinct will get attention early on, Xbox One or no. Whether it's a good game or not will determine if people actually care down the line, though. Mandatory updates shouldn't be an issue if the check in was already completed as you'd just use it offline after that but I get where you're going with it. Time will tell if MS relaxes things a bit. Shit could still change.

I'm going to be perfectly happy running around blowing shit up in the other games regardless.

It seems like the gimmick for this year, granted. Ubisoft has, what, three of them coming just from them alone? We have GTAV coming soon and others from other devs. I just hope that Sony shows something different because we have had literally zero huge breakout games this year. There's been things that look great but nothing that shocked me like last year with Watch Dogs and such.

Mirror's edge 2: meh. First was okay, but nothing amazing

Battlefield 4: FUCK, this is what I wanna see; full on environmental destruction. That map looks better that all the BF3 ones. Gonna be jumping out of tall buildings a lot

I hate that they feel the need to reboot the franchise already. Showing her getting her tattoos tells me this is more of an origin story and that's fine but...we had one game! And it was a good one. Very dumb choice of words.

1.) lol @ the ignore comment. I'm pretty sure mods should not be using that function. Just another reason why you should not be a mod. I mean, there is a good reason why your mod status was stripped so quickly when you were one at DoAC lol.

2.) Your blind fanboyism and your complete submission to these features is scary, and the fact you think TO's will be in favor of such features and will go through the hassle of constantly going through that authentication process every hour, especially when hot spots at tournaments are being bogged down by 100's of people is simply pure ignorance. I mean for crying out loud, streams still have issues keeping steady footage and get interrupted on numerous occasions and you want to trust these hot spots for authentication? Get real.

$500 Xbox rental service? WTF. Seriously, get rid of Kinect and let people own their property. Curses really do happen in 3s. Sony better not fuck this up.
