jesus christ you have no idea what you’re talking about. I get straight sword, great sword and even rolling ultra weapon parries all the time. I’m 100% sure that you’re just bad at the game.

As for poise it has been turned into hyper armor and works better when paired with a heavy weapon.

They turned poise into something useless.

They turned Parrying into Something Useless.

The Weapon Arts are Pretty useless too.

If you can parry everything100% of the time... then you're the only one.

Poise is not useless, it has a different use than Dark Souls 1. In fact, i used poise a lot in some of my DS3 builds.

Parrying is not useless, it has a different usage than Dark Souls 1.

The fact that you know that the parry in DS3 is different from DS1 and insists on parrying like it was DS1 shows that it is completely your fault and your fault alone.

The balance of Dark Souls 3 is something completely different of Dark Souls 1, they are different games mechanically, and you shouldn't try to play something with the mindset of the previous.
Lulu
Lulu
Yes... The difference is that is Useless... if they were the same or better I wouldn't be here Bitching About.

And I go into every game with the same mindset... Find Out How Everything Works and then use it as best as I can.
Sotherius
Sotherius
No you don't. The fact that there are hundreds, even thousands of players doing effective use of Poise and Parry and Weapon Arts, while you're sitting here, bitching about how it doesn't work (when it works), proves you wrong.

What you and every other Souls Fanboy don't see is that the games mechanics don't always measure Up to the game's Challenges

Your combat mechanics both offensive and defensive are not suitable for fighting more than one enemy at a time and yet the game will force you into Multi Enemy encounters... this is the case in Dark Souls 1 but atleast Dark Souls 1 had some god damn poise.
Lulu
Lulu
Dark Souls 3 on the other hand took that... increased the amount of enemies, the strength of those enemies and then they nerf poise...

They took a system that was fairly fucked up to begin with and made it worse.
Sotherius

First, i'm far from being a fan of dark souls, even more a fanboy.

Second, again, you don't know how to play the game if multi enemy fights are a problem for you with or without poise.

You want to talk about mechanics when you just made a status post about a mechanic not working when it clearly works?
Lulu
Lulu
Yeah... Thats 100s out of thousands out of people who don't. That proves that its useless.

It was pretty useless in the first game too but atleast in the first game it was consistent.

LoL... its even useless if you successfully parry an enemy because you vould probably do more Damage with spammed light attacks with in the same duration.
Lulu
Lulu
The parry mechanic is working as it was intended to work... it maybe working properly but that doesn't make it any less useless.

Its just like the Kick... that also another mechanic that works properly... also useless.

The Stun Mechanic in Street Fighter V works like a charm... and its still stupid.

This is From Softwares problem... they deliberately make things useless.
Sotherius
Sotherius
If it can be used, and you benefit from using it, is not useless.
Useless is Guillotine Throw in Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's edge, where it will work or not work randomly depending on the enemy, that is something useless.
Useless would be having a parry that wouldn't leave you any reward. Useless is saying a mechanic doesn't work when it works, Useless is trying to put some sense into your head.

And yes you're a fan boy... You're sitting there making excuses for a game that prides itself and not letting you pause.

You are Fan Boy, through and through. If you can give atleast fair critism then there might be some hope... but I'm willing to bet that you can't.

You probably think Bed Of Chaos was excellent.
Lulu
Lulu
Whether it can or can't be used doesn't mean its usefull... you can use it out of Spite if you want.

For something to be usefull it needs to be Practical... not just possible but actually practical to use. A distinction you Fan Boys clearly can't grasp.

This is why you don't see whats wrong with the series. Because you never factor in Practicality.

I just critiscized something about one of my favorite games ever, do you really think i have nothing against souls games? I can talk about the bland enemy design of dark souls 3, where there is nothing really interesting about them. I can talk about the lame level design, i can talk about pre-patch angels of the ringed city, i could mention the hassle that is Irythill dungeon.
Sotherius
Sotherius
About something being practical, that is highly subjective. If you can kill gundyr 50 seconds faster by parrying him than i can do with my go to pyro build, wouldn't that be practical? If we talk about min-maxing, then it gets stupid, you would only want certain builds on certain points.
Sotherius

It would be the same argument for always picking a top tier character when a fighting game is balanced to the point where 7-3 matchups are rare.

Jesus christ lulu stop being so stubborn, parries DO work it just requires more skill. You always make these inane status posts complaining about something but when someone corrects you you basically say NO IM RIGHT YOURE WRONG!!. I have spend countless hours in the souls series and i’m on new game 12 now, do you really want to argue with me about a mechanic in a game i play way more than you? Jesus christ man.

Looks like I've been dethroned as the king of inane status posts. My self-afflicted curse has finally been lifted.
