Throws in DOA are FAR more different than in SFV though. The reason you might want to take the throw in that game sometimes is because of the lack of fully invincible wake-up options=sometimes better to take the throw than actually risk a reserval that might get blocked and punished with 4x the amount of the throw's damage.

In DOA, they are used to break the defense of the other player and as the main form of punishing unsafe moves. Plus DOA has chain/combo throws, even if you might be thrown by a chain throw you can minimize the damage greatly depending on whether it was a Hi-Counter throw that the opponent got you with or not. For short, this mentality in my opinion is not so applicable to DOA.

You know whats better than Taking The Throw...

Teching Throw...

I mean you can legit apply that same logic to Alpha in DoA5... do u Hold and risk getting 50%'ed by Burst or Stagger Escape and take the Juggle ?

NEITHER !!!

The answer is you try and figure out what you're opponent wants and counter it... Its literally the same thing SFV when it comes to throws and non-Meaty Guard Breaks from Abigail.

Also The grey life mechanic exists for the sole purpose of punishing people who just want to take the throw.

Yeah, teching the throw is always an option, but then again the opponent might decide to go for an attack into a combo/juggle instead and that'll definitely hurt more than the throw, the risk for not taking the throw can be much higher than taking the throw now that fully invincible wake-ups aren't a thing, but I do agree that you shouldn't just follow the "take the throw" mentality.

We can sometimes see that rounds are lost because of people taking the throws like 5 times in succession. If you have that much respect towards the opponent, than sooner or later you'll be opened up by anything, not just throws. I've always thought that the grey life mechanic was implemented because of the supers being the only way to kill with chip damage and this is how the game punishes overly defensive players.

Yeah thats just how fighting games work. the thing I find weird about STreet Fighter Players specifically is they really hate Force Guess 50/50 Situations... and if that situation happens to have a less Damaging option they always choose it...

I think they need to buck up and stop being afraid that they might take a lot of Damage...

Some times you choose you wrong... it happens... theres nothing wrong with that...

Nope... Grey life was definitely for throws and over heads. On their own they don't do much damage but Two good block strings and going for that slow overhead or getting a throw becomes worth it.

Cammy and Bison depend on this mechanic... thats what makes them strong... Problem X practically won Evo 2018 by exploiting the Grey Life.

That's how decent to skillful people play mostly in every fighting game though. There is a reason why movement is so important for players in Tekken, they really don't want to throw out too many unsafe attacks because whiff punishing and even punishing unsafe attacks(not in every case) leads to a free juggle, which in that game makes you probably lose half of your hp depending on how close the wall is.
