The point from the competitive side is that the wall, and the environment in general, is supposed to be one of the only means of getting big gauranteed damage in a game where guessing is more rampant than other fighters. The wall is supposed to be dangerous in a 3d fighter. Even look at Tekken where a wall carry can become a blender if you arent careful.

well, this is doa and holding from wall splats isnt new. it adds more of a mind game to a game that is already about mind games. also, from the footage ive seen it doesnt look like you can get a big combo off of wall splats anyway.

It adds a lot of guessing game to something that you earned and was guaranteed. Remember, knowing your environment and knowing how to position yourself is really important in 3D fighters, especially in DOA, if you get them to a wall and you keep pressuring them, you earned it, same thing with the DOA5 wallsplat, you earned that guaranteed damage.

Also, someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but weren't holds super strong in DOA4? Like, they came out very quickly? If so, then the mixture of these two elements, the strong holds and the wallsplat of that game weren't good.

People including myself will abuse it and adapt to it, the problem is that it makes DOA not look like a traditional fighter and DOA will become the laughing stock of the FGC once more. Same with SS, take that away and it just looks weird trying to be it's own game. It basically looks extremely atrocious and terrible looking in the playing field.

doa already isnt like a traditional fighter so why tf would you want to play a fighting game thats like every other fighter? might as well playing tekken or some shit. doa is never gonna be taken seriously anyways because of the image it has. just adept to whats new to the game and move on.

Because the game has to grow. It will never grow if it's contradicting itself every single time. The decision was so bad that not even Rikuto wants to play it and Matt (Mr. Wah) heavily dislikes that decision too because it just isolates itself from the world, on top that DOA is too niche. Other fighting games take note of each other every single time to the point that companies work together to keep a life support.

It's not the fact that we can't adapt, it's just that we shouldn't have to. Like others have said, the defender should not be given another chance for poor decision making. DOA moving forward has to lower the amount of guessing needed, not add to it.
DestructionBomb
DestructionBomb
DOA tried to do it's own thing 3 times already and failed 3 times because they expected to change the FGC world by being unique (or so they thought) which did more harm to it's own nature than intended.

When you play a system like that there's no skill placement involved with that type of wallsplat. No sense of credibility for winning a match in that system. DOA series doesn't even have a throw break system lol.

I mean it's whatevs lol. I get where Panic is coming from because people will play the game + find some enjoyment out of it, it's just that TN are moving backwards not forward or in the sense that it's a downgrade, not an upgrade and you also can't expect people to think it's skillful in that mechanic on both the defender and even the attacker via DOA4.1 wallsplat. It's low IQ gameplay for dummies basically.

Tekken, VF and other competitive fighting games follow this same rule.......
*defender makes a poor decision or does some silly shit, the offense competitor deserves big rewards with way less randomness and guessing*

Thats what DB is talking about when he said " traditional fighter"
Doing combos off of wallsplats is the big reward.
