I think it's silly and it proves they're not genuine when they use those characters. I don't give a fuck how bad Kasumi ever gets, I would still use her xD same with Naotora, I didn't care if she was bad or not since in my eyes she was a super perfect fit xD but I'm sure people will run to Kula and Mai until the character unfamiliarity benefit fades after like a month or two
