@Chisa I don't think so tbh, DOA will always have its fans, games like SFV are ps4 and PC only but they're still a very big fanbase. I think the overall image of sex appeal and the lack of support for 6 is what hurt it truly since doa5 and dimensions themselves had alot hype behind for its time

@Chisa Actually to a degree yeah. Itagaki was a firm believer of the Xbox to being more prominent and glorified it to having forever better hardware which is pretty false since any company that gets the tech will always get better hardware than another, especially PC.

I remember there was a forum topic about this back in DOA5 vanilla where quite a few people mentioned that they liked DOA but didn't want to buy a whole Xbox 360 for it (which was like over 40% of people). Because of it, a lot of new people's first DOA game was pretty much DOA5 due to PS3 or DOAD for the portable. There's also DOA2HC back on the PS2.

But if you mean getting a fanbase outside of it and drawing in more of an audience from other games? nah.

Definitely; being a Playstation only player and never owning an XBOX I wasn't even aware DOA 3&4 were released until 5 came to PS3; just played 2 on PS2 and jumped straight to 5 on PS3.
