People on Skype have even said upon announcement of 5U I need a reason to play vanilla now.

I never had to put a thought into going to something local its always a yes. If this tournament were to happen. Then I'll put thought into going to something local for the first time ever. I'm going to TFC thats gonna be the first major hosting 5U. 5U comes out 2 weeks prior to TFC tell me this. Why am I gonna spend time on a old version of the game just a couple days before the new release?

I need to get a hold of the new system not the old one for TFC. CJ's going to TFC, shadows going too, Nai might also. If worst comes to worst I'm paying for Incognito to go. Also Tok there's no nostalgia to be had a couple days before the 5U's release. You can't yearn for something that you have no other choice to play. 1.03A is the only version out.

Consider this tough love Tokkosho. I'm not shitting on your need to play offline. That I think is great, an old tourney a couple days before a new release? That just doesn't sound appealing to me, but I do have a compromise. Perhaps do a tourney the day of release. Like do a vanilla tourney the same day once that's over hop on 5U casuals.

If this turns out to be a good idea and I'm wrong. Oh well I guess I'm a fuckin weirdo then. I'm okay with that I probably won't show if that were to happen though. Just putting that out there.

Doa5u is not stopping us from playing 5 especially since the game ain't out yet won't be out that time. It also won't do nothing more than help the community. If its possible to get a tournsment I am down with trying to make it happen.

Well unless people were agreeing with J.D,E. for the sake of agreeing. Then I must of got it all wrong. I still think a 5U gathering makes more sense than a vanilla. If we have a vanilla one I would rather have it sooner than a couple days before 5U. If that happens and I got plans. Showing up will be the last thing on my mind. Usually offline is top of the priority list this case its not.

I feel nostalgia pretty easy at the thought of the end of things, especially when it's inevitable. Playing DOA before ultimate comes out one last time with a bunch of people, it's just gonna make me think about my year with DoA5 and all the things I did and learned and improved on and I enjoy that. Maybe it's cause in young I feel this way so easily but I don't think it's bad.

And I'm not disagreeing with 5U gatherings, It just won't be out for this convention. That's it. I just see this as an opportunity to gather one last time with the game we waited 7 years for before moving on to the next.

Any sort of gathering for DOA makes sense whether it's 5 or 5U. Negativity towards any DOA gathering will not help this scene, no matter what they timing is. There's barely a handful of people in NorCal anyways doing any sort of DOA related event. There's always more to an event/gathering that just hosting or attending one if you look at the bigger picture.

Thats a ludicrous idea "Hey just because something is going on that means its a good thing" Hey some female is getting raped that's nothing but good. Hey I got an idea how about I host a gathering on July 12 in Vegas. Never mind that's when EVO starts, but its a good idea cause the only factor to take in account is that "its happening".

If you actually read my comment I was disagreeing with the timing nothing else. I think the time is a bad idea not the game. As I said a sooner 5 gathering I'm up for. I also don't know where Tok got the idea that I think he's against 5U gatherings. I never gathered that from his post. Maybe I'm just being selfish here, but to elaborate more on the timing thing. Sac gatherings hardly happen.

4 people from NorCal are going to TFC 2 from the bay 2 from Sac.The numbers are split now we don't get to play with one another often. So in order to train for an offline tourney I think it would be best to play offline. What doesn't make sense is to use that rare opportunity we have to play one another. To play an old version of the game.
