Its not an easy game but it is a fair one still and the more weapons and abilities you get, the better the game becomes. Nioh is one of those games where going in all the time will get you killed fast, especially when it comes to bosses. It can be treated as a fighting game tbh: If you know the enemy's weakness, you can abuse that, study their pattern so that you can find a way to counter it

if they're whiffing, punish them accordingly and above all, patience, I've already been killed by the first four bosses many times just because I wasn't patient enough. Souls games are this way though, I wouldn't call them insanely hard but you definitely can't breeze through them and as long as games like these are challenging and not annoying to play, them I'm all for them.
